The modern US army is such a badass and picks their targets that this isn't the case. Care to look up how dangerous it was to be in Iraq versus the more dangerous domestic jobs ? Any asshole can take a gun and shoot some random person if they don't have to worry about repercussions. That is what modern bravery is, nothing more. Unfortunately there will probably be battles in the future where this isn't the case.

This is where we disagree. If someone is told to kill a family and they do it no questions asked, I don't think that is "honor". I also don't think it is bravery until you risk a reasonable chance of death.

I know a US drone pilot. He volunteered for 2 trips through Iraq on the ground and was almost killed(up close) more than once. When he was deciding to leave the armed forces they asked him to join the drone program.

He had to learn to fly planes and was trying to give members of my family free flights to AC on small planes which they mostly rejected. After his service he got his regular pilots license he started training to become a drone pilot.

He doesn't sit in his little video game hanger thinking he is wiping out non-real life targets.
