Furthermore, the Pentagon’s plans for the withdrawal were almost certainly established long before Biden took office. Bottom line? TRUMP laid the groundwork for this crisis and left Biden to deal with how lopsided in favor of the Taliban Trump’s deal with them was.
The withdrawal date set by Trump keeps getting blamed, but it wasn't mid-August. It was May 1. So having blown by it by 3.5 months, why was it so important to withdraw so quickly and fuck everything up? This is a dumb excuse. Had we withdrawn on May 1 and Biden said he simply wanted to keep to our agreement, he'd at least have that. Here we were so far past the deadline that taking a bit more time to withdraw correctly wouldn't have drawn any criticism.
Biden also reversed a shitload of things Trump did, before he was even in office a week. To state that somehow this was Trump's fault for "laying the groundwork" is bullshit, because Biden could have changed or reversed anything he felt was incorrect.
Biden's top priority in his first week was to restore the rights of trans women to ruin women's sports. For some reason he didn't want to reverse Trump's perceived mistakes involving Afghanistan? Get the fuck outta here...
