I just don't understand how you can think that even message boards on the internet discussing this issue exist if those rights are stripped. You for some reason don't believe it possible? I guess the difference between you and me is that if the shit hits the fan one of us will be running to the other for help. You figure out who will run to whom.
You have the reading comprehension of a 12 year old. I never said that the mentally ill do not need help. I pointed out that 4D was right that there would never be a clamor for anti-car legislation in the hypothetical scenario that I proposed. Today, by and large, has been about certain groups using a tragic event that tugs at the heart strings of the populous to further their own agenda.
I am purely speculating here, but if the varying reports are true then the bulk of the blame for today resides on the shoulders of the dead guy's mother. It would seem that he had mental issues that were known about before today. He also had access to weapons that were owned by his mother. She should have known better.
Equating automatic weapons with cars is something I imagine a 8th-9th grader would come up with for a report
So so stupid
But...but...Walter Sobcheck says ban guns, so you are fucking wrong and being unrealistic...not the other way around! Deal with it!
Seriously though, after the few posts I have scanned through in this thread, I think Walter Cockcheck wins the "Biggest Moron Of This Thread" award.
You really are a mong. I give up trying to have an intelligent discussion with a person who cannot even for a cogent response. Continue to troll as you please and you will continue to show you inferior mental capacity. You're a test case for Schopenhaeur's guidelines to win an argument by causing exaggerated controversy instead of using facts.
MY mental capacity?
WHERE THE HELL IS YOURS?
You have to draw a line somewhere, and you're severely crossing it. 4D is off in government conspiracy world and you're essentially agreeing with him.
Let's examine to the two objects in question:
Guns
Intended Use - To fire flesh piercing projectiles at objects living or non-living for the purpose of killing or physically damaging the object being fired at
Cars
Intended Use - Transportation
Get fucking bent man.
My 2 cents in one sentence, since I have to leave and have shit to do:
We don't have a gun problem in this country nearly as much as we have a CULTURE problem and and some apparently have a psychological problem. Our society is simply fucked up, NOT the gun laws.
We've been cutting metal health care in this country for 30 years. People dismiss gun control because "you can't stop crazy people from getting guns". What if we could help most of those crazy people before they started shooting up public places.
Giving everyone health care, including access to therapists and psychologists, will cost quite a few dollars. Far less than the Iraq war, of course, but a significant amount. But every time a bunch of people get shot, we cry "we HAVE to do something, to make sure this never happens again" and then we don't do shit. Maybe it's time to do something serious and concrete that addresses the problem.
Let us amend it to 'flesh piercing projectiles at objects living or non-living for the purpose of killing or physically damaging the object being fired at by a military upon it's own citizens that have no way of fighting back when their leaders go rogue.' There, now we live in your world.
I could give them $200k and it wouldn't do anything important. It might help out dozens of people. I'm talking about millions of people.
I've been giving most of my charity money recently to donorschoose.org. I like to buy science oriented stuff for classrooms here in Vegas. I just gave $50 to this one in your honor-

So you won't donate money to them because it won't make a big enough difference? So your answer to that is to give nothing? Makes sense. Seems like people like you want these things, but don't want to have to foot the bill for it without the people who don't. Most people talk a big game, but clam up when you ask them to open their own checkbook.
