I've been watching California real estate. There's been a decline in value near the big cities, and an increase in value in outlying areas. This is a complete reversal of what started to occur about 15-20 years ago, where there was a general belief that far from the city = undesirable (due to traffic getting to work, being away from the action, etc).

Now it's going back the other way. It's a combination of the coronavirus ("Wow, being in a big city can be dangerous in a pandemic!") and the riots ("Wow, being in a big city makes it more likely that riots will be near you!")

Basically everyone has decided that they want their families far from all of the bullshit.

Right now Jayjami is looking pretty smart for buying a mountain home in the middle of fucking nowhere.
