A lot has changed in the last 48 hours.
Since embarrassing Comey by firing him in the most humiliating way possible, Trump has now taken an openly adversarial position with FBI.
Im sorry but that changes everything. If the FBI so chooses, they can stop investigating Trump entirely and bring him down by focusing on giving GOP stalwarts an 'us or him' ultimatum to undermine the wall of support shielding him and by extension the GOP's own their interests.
The FBI doesnt even need to have dirt on these people to destroy their careers, all they need to do is start tapping on their neighbors doors and asking pointed questions and their careers are over.
