Simulation theory has been picking up some steam in the news lately. Elon Musk recently came out and said that there is a one in a billion chance that we're actually living in a reality and Matt Damon briefly touched on it at his commencement speech at MIT.
I'm probably a bit late to this discussion but it just blows my mind. Really makes me wish i got into the field of computers or tech instead of poker.

Well there's some time since the Matrix movies came out and no one really remembers the plots of action movies anyway, so solid original mind blowing theory. It's not like this type of stuff has ever been touched in philosophy ever since ancient hippies. Oh well i'm just hanging around in my cave watching shadows go by.

Elon Musk thinks he is the next Steve Jobs. He is going to be exposed as a fraud. Tesla cars are the biggest pieces of junk on the road.
What can really start fucking with you is when you consider the inevitablness of our species being able to create a simulation within a simulation. Since space time is not linear and the universe is technically expanding into an implosion (because it can't expand in a perfect line it will eventually create a circle, which at some point fucks with gravity) then we can technically be a simulation within trillions of simulations, who will all inevitably come crashing down like dominoes. That would also mean that anything that can happen will happen given enough simulations. It's like an endless loop that eventually runs out of memory and seizes to be anything.
Programming consciousness would be fun, we are, after all, programmed organisms that experience consciousness.

If you go with the base premise that he's not just bat shit crazy in this particular instance and we accept the 1 in billion number as a totally accurate estimation based on fuck all then even though the most likeliest scenario is that we're a simulation of the base reality it's much more likelier that we're merely a simulation of some previous simulation even though the likelihood of us being a simulation of any particular simulation is less likely than being a simulation of the base reality.

It's a base premise that a random pothead invents every year all by themselves and it's dear to them mostly because they don't know any better. You can store it in the category of things that are less than 1% to be true so no particular reason to waste time nor energy assuming it's real and in no way change your behavior because it might be true. I got the "maybe gravity is a hoax" theory stored there for instance.

current simulation theory is based on quantum mechanics vs observation, and the data is maybe 5-10 years old or so, older depending on how close you are to the NSA crypto labs proverbial ring-0 research vectors.

This forum is obv a simulation with a faulty processor. The Druff-Tyde program keeps rebooting every few months.
A few years ago I binge watched the entire series on Netflix. The best episodes were missing though. All the ones with musicians or songs that they did not have the license to use. Which sucked.
