What can really start fucking with you is when you consider the inevitablness of our species being able to create a simulation within a simulation. Since space time is not linear and the universe is technically expanding into an implosion (because it can't expand in a perfect line it will eventually create a circle, which at some point fucks with gravity) then we can technically be a simulation within trillions of simulations, who will all inevitably come crashing down like dominoes. That would also mean that anything that can happen will happen given enough simulations. It's like an endless loop that eventually runs out of memory and seizes to be anything.
Programming consciousness would be fun, we are, after all, programmed organisms that experience consciousness.
