Very much agree with this.

People have always been wired the same way, and there has always been an abundant amount of guns in our society, so not much has changed there.

What has changed is the coverage of shit like this as well as the massive amount of social media. Before, for the most part lunatics like this asshole would just off themselves, but now if they take a bunch of people with them they become celebrities, and in their warped minds their actions now have meaning.

Not saying it would solve all the problems if the big news organizations stopped giving the murderers so much coverage, but it would be a damn good place to start IMO. Freedom of speech laws obv will trump any sort of legal action if people want laws passed banning the mention of these murderers names, but self regulation on the media's part could definitely play a big part. Of course that won't happen considering being the whores that they are, all of these news orgs just care about ratings, and shit like this brings the hits.
