This news just broke Twitter, literally.

I was saying all last night there is no way in only 240ft of crystal water (surrounded by land masses not wide open ocean) they couldn't see a fucking plane, made no sense.
wen you mentioned this yesterday i thought maybe there was some hope for the people on the plane. and it seems the only logical reason when there was no contact even if the plane was crashing the pilots would have likely had time to say something to indicate a problem. unfortunately it is improbable that huge plane could have landed on a desert runway in iran or some terrorist country. more they flew it off course and blasted into the deepest part of the sea never to be found. kinda weird cause mostly these terrorist groups like to brag about there activities when successful.
They had some people on last night who said that these days it is not uncommon to not take credit afterwards. They said the heat goes up so much when a group takes credit it has started to scare them off from grandstanding anymore, so that part really isn't that odd.

Also they said the only way the transponder goes off is an electrical failure of epic proportions, or someone turning it off. And as far as the electrical failure, the plane is so advanced technology that would be virtually impossible.

Now that they are looking in the right place they will probably find this thing pretty soon. In about a million pieces.
