With that said, I'll probably throw caution to the wind and buy some if it falls low enough.
But $70 isn't anywhere close to what I would consider "low enough".
TBH, it is pretty fucked up. I don't even like mtgox, but it worked for me when I bought BTC. Once I had btc I never cared about cashing them out and found mtgox to be horrible. I'm sure there are some tllted people. Good luck with cashing out $$ real quick. We'll see what happens. If mtgox goes belly up, btc would take a huge hit to the face, but it'll still be around. Thats what people don't get. Keep being cheerleaders against em though. Your only really hope is that the US totally outlaws them. Maybe UIGEA type extension. Other than that you haters can fuck off. All of us early adopters who got into bitcoins have done just fine from them so far, even if we just doubled our money. Thank you very much.
(See, this is an example of a reasonable discussion... Try it)
If we base it on the trend these things have been on the past 4-5 days it's going to go lower.
The coin peaked out something around $260 then had tons of fluctuating but closed over $200. The next 24 hour period it does the same thing with a roller coaster effect only to close like 10-15% less then the previous close.
You then repeat this process a few times over the next few days and the coin is where it's at now.
I believe they are victims of their own success; it turned them from a sleek, inventive grey market juggernaught into a bloated, irresponsible, and frankly stereotypical dot com start-up cautionary tale.

some realllllly cogent points on that fb page... eg they made $100m off commissions and never reinvested in their hardware, security, or application resilience.
thats kind of a fucking headshot right there.

Why is no one in this thread praising China Kid knew right when to sale..

Seriously, Todd ? Everything costs money in the computer world and increases complexity considerably. Comparing this to online cheaters ?!??! Seriously ?? That shit is whack.
I forgot to commend you about the DDOS being questionable due to their website.... I honestly thought you made a good point, however the DDOS could easily be on their bitcoin server. Sonatine goes on about how sophisticated Eastern Euros are. Well no shit, it isn't hard to DDOS the IP addresses used for the mtgox bitcoin service. That might be far more effective. Eastern Euros could spit out phoney bitcoin requests, chew up cpu. Software isn't perfect and everything goes through phases. This isn't the same as cracking the crypto, which is the important part.
Hmm.. actually that kinda jives with why my bitcoin client woudln't update the past week. This sort of thing would have no effect on their front end which could easily be behind your standard run of the mill DDOS mitigation service. (However many of these there are..)
I mean fuck, you guys hate on Micon like he's a scrub... Even he was has been DDOSed. I mean WTF? Mtgox is like Micon x 100000000000. Why is "victim of our own success" so wrong ?
It is interesting to me, because there is the whole 51% problem. And that is where a nefarious organization takes hold of over 51% of the nodes in the bitcoin network. When they do this, they can achieve a consensus. I dont' know the details, but it is a known problem. Maybe this DDOS is tied into something like that. Who knows. Obviously I should not be asking these questions here.
MTGOX is the biggest target, because they are the biggest market. If Micon gets crushed and hes a scrub, mtgox is going to get it all.
Multiple things are afoot here and I'm going to go smoke weed and figure it out.
Anyway.. GL everyone, I'll peace out with this thread and find the right bitcoin discussion site. I like explaining BTC etc etc, but creeping fucking Sonatine has beat me once again. I may return under a new name, maybe not.

Who wouldn't, seriously. Besides Druff obv.
I've dabbled in the bitcoin/silkroad realm a few times over the past few weeks, and if nothing else it's a fascinating social experiment. I've made a few bucks on the rapid appreciation but nothing to write home about. I typically only use the bitcoins as barter pieces and try to unload them as quickly as possible. It took a lot of work to even understand how to get them and what they meant, you literally have to go through several middle men just the acquire the damn things.
They work well as barter pieces, but anything else is just gambling. Some will win and some will lose.................some were born to sing the blues.
Sorry, couldn't help myself.
Hoser/Donkdowndonedied/Nextlevelshit is the most argumentative fellow on these many forums IMO. That's neither a compliment nor a criticism, just a fact.
i'm long on cmoney

After hanging in the low 90s all night, the morning is delivering a beatdown and it's down to 77.
Interestingly, MtGox seems to be finally catching up with the other exchanges, which have been in the 70s forever, and are still there.
