Acromegaly is a disease process caused by a tumor (non cancerous) on the pituitary gland in the brain. The problem is depending on where the tumor is situation it can be either easily treatable or next to impossible. Surgery is the truly only cure but again depending on the location and size of the tumor it can become quickly inoperaable. While certain medications used to treat neurological cancers specifically brain tumors can be somewhat effective they merely slow down the process but can not stop it. They are working on refining using gamma knife technology for the surgery but still is years away from being perfected as no 2 tumors are alike.Originally Posted by The_PHA
