Tommy Edman, the most clutch hitter on the Dodgers by a wide margin, takes just 1 pitch to drive in 2 for the walkoff in the 10th.

The Cardinals are enjoying Erick Fedde and his 4.88 ERA in return.

Even Sanlmar has to admit that Friedman ate the Cards' lunch on this one.

Oh, remember betting Dodgers -1.5 in 2023 & 2024? Used to be a near autobet. That program is history now.

Dodgers at home were just crushing repeatedly. This actually goes back several years. Nowadays you don't know what the hell you're gonna get with them, home or road.

I just looked at the box score for this game, and I have never heard of 3 starters for the Marlins. Are Eric Wagaman, Ronny Simon, and Graham Pauley real humans?

    Wagaman hitting 3rd!

Wagaman has kind of been hitting (hit safely in 10 of last 11) so they're rolling with him.

One good thing about having minor league Marlins players on your fantasy reserves is that they're never too far from being promoted and getting regular playing time. I also hadn't heard of these 3 prior to this year.

Every problem the Dodgers have the solution is Edman.
    2nd base?
    center field?
    maybe even shortstop

    Switch hitting athletic freak.

Friedman hits for low average but has occasional pop. Books will be written how an unknown kid secured the World Series for the Dodgers after 4 decades of trying

$30m/yr Glasnow brings Druff back to earth. But that criticism about money really doesn’t matter, does it? nvm

If you aren’t prepared to show me a Miami team total over 3.5 tomorrow vs Dodgers you will likely face a hazing.

There are only 4 who post here and that’s prolly 1 too many.

That was the only time in MLB history that a player hit 4 HR in a game, and the team lost.

    Fast forward 37 years.

I was strolling through downtown Phoenix on Saturday, and wondering how the Dbacks were doing against the Braves. Eugenio Suarez hit 4 HR in that game, and you guessed it, the Dbacks lost in extras.

If you remember Horner just abruptly vanishing after that strong 1986 season, you're correct. In 1986, he hit .273 with 27 HR and held a .803 OPS. It was his second consecutive season with 27 HR, and he had 54 HR in 1000 plate appearances in those two years combined.

He wanted a whopping $2 million in 1987 as a free agent. MLB owners were colluding at the time to hold salaries down, and refused to give it to him.

He ended up going to Japan and playing that year. Despite being offered a 3-year, $10m contract to continue playing there from 1988-90, he missed the US and returned, signing a much smaller 1-year deal with the Cardinals. He injured his shoulder, played poorly, and retired after 60 games, at the age of just 31.

Had he been born 10-15 years later, he'd have done much better financially.
I have a funny story about this. When I was a young teen I was listening to the local sports talk radio station and they had a weekend sports trivia question thing where you could call in a win a prize if you answered. This was pre internet so couldn’t quickly just look up the answers. The question that day was “who was the last player to hit 4 HRs in a MLB baseball game?”

I was a huge baseball fan and watched both the Cubs on WGN and the Braves on TBS all the time. I told my parents I knew the answer, it was Mark Whitten as he had just done it that season. I called in and got thru and said Mark Whitten and they said sorry that’s incorrect. My parents were like sorry kid you were wrong. I swore to them I was not.

The next caller called in and said “Bob Horner” and they said yes that’s correct!

I called back and off air explained that Mark Whitten had recently done so Horner was no longer the most recent. A few minutes later they made the correction on the air. Whatever source they were using was obviously outdated.

My parents were like we knew you knew a lot of worthless baseball stuff but that was ridiculous. Pretty sure if it was today they’d of had me tested for autism the next day, as I know I would if my kid did that lol.

I’d be surprised if Cleveland/Twins or Cubs/Pirates get them in. And if they do, likely start/stop games

    Forecast for both
A morning shower, warm with clouds; a few p.m. t-storms, some severe; storms can bring flooding downpours, hail, damaging wind gusts, and an isolated tornado

I think Cleveland and Pittsburgh both play, but as you said perhaps with interruptions.

Cincinnati is the real trouble spot today weatherwise

Yeah, maybe. Yesterday they were acting like Armageddon was coming, but it must have shifted south. Still afraid to get involved in any of them to have them pull the starter and end up with some long relief guy

It’s really hard for me to click this button as my brain just autos to Marlins anemic offense, but I’ll respect the graph.

As you guys know, I'm a big baseball fan, but I had no idea who Jack Dreyer and Matt Sauer were, prior to 2025.

Man that was bad luck for Pablo and Twins gut. First Pablo got screwed on strike 3, then little dink with throwing error. Then pitcher comes in and gets hit on a steal which I have never seen. Few more borderline strikes missed and then 3 run HR.

Can’t really blame them. Being a Pirates fan isn’t easy. I might take a header. If it was the Twins game he would have landed on Buxton.

Many people are saying that guy intentionally jumped.

I have watched it over 10 times and I think they might be correct.

It was right when McCuthcen hit a big two run scoring double and if you notice other fans jumped up to celebrate right after. Also apparently the guy had been drinking all game and had already ripped his shirt off during the game.

Legitimately think he drunkenly jumped up in excitement at McCutchens hit and lost his balance and over he went. It does look like he was just ejected out of his seat from the video it’s definitely weird. At least if he’s donkdown his last moment in life was likely celebrating something he was excited about.
