Couple of things, Russia currently occupies 18% of Ukraine sovereign territory. This occupation does not garner any benefitsUkraine has 14 Trillion in natural resources, the majority of it in now Russian occupied areas. 1) Technology Advances
2) Energy Harvesting
I would assume in year 2100 Space will be there, but not now. Russia has no ability to do anything real on the technology front. They do however know how to harvest all forms of energy. That is their prime goal with Ukraine. Whatever settlement is ultimately reached will come down to how much energy they can control from the region. Ultimately, you figure out a way to give the country with 10,000 nukes what they want while all sides save face. It's not like they can lose the war at this point. A draw though is acceptable. This notion they will just pack up and go home will never happen.
