And one of the reasons I felt a real bond with Brandon is because he isnt part of that culture. The kid is a fantastic poker player, but I dont think hes a gambler, and I mean that as a compliment. A big one. I dont think Brandon needs to stay in action. He can go hard with the best of them but I dont think its a compulsion for him.

And what we have here is a friendship between a guy who has to stay in action, and a guy who thinks action is kinda corny, is my read.

That Micon assumed Drexel was part of his culture is unfortunate but I dont think it ever occurred to him that Brandon was not actually in that tribe, and considered its trappings and ceremony to be adolescent and destructive at the end of the day.

To me, I see Micon not getting what he wants and throwing a full blown tantrum. To Micon, he sees a friend failing to honor a code, something old school and hallowed. I guarantee you Micon felt hung out to dry when Brandon turned him down.

I also guarantee that anyone who doesnt spend his life at a poker table is going to find Micon's response fucking ludicrous.

But thats the life Micon has chosen. Thats his culture. It has rules. And the saddest part here is that Im not sure Micon understands that those rules are not rules that society at large condones, and exist for the same reasons junkies have rules, crackheads have rules, so on; to make sure that peoples addictions come first.

I never thought Id say this; I think this site might be over. Micon I feel like you wanted to be a petite Howard Stern here, but forgot that Howard Stern is, first and foremost, an outrageously competent business man and always has been. Always. That's why hes the ring leader. What the fuck type of ring leader passive aggressively stiffs his employees for months then demands a loan from them? Ill tell you what type; the type with a rapidly diminishing ring to lead.

This is some serous Sam Grizzle caliber bullshit on your part, and I cant imagine a more damning indictment of 'poker culture' than the things Ive seen you proclaim in this thread.

You're light years out of line on this one. You're basically blaming Brandon for not solving Micon problems. Well Im sorry but Micon problems need Micon solutions, not Brandon's money solutions. Brandon is not a bank. And Brandon would have coughed up a kidney for you if you needed it until 4 days ago.

My advice to you is to pick a side. Like, pretty much now. Are you a degen grinder who throws away friendships when people refuse to finance your gambling? Because thats got a pretty limited end game. That guy doesnt get announcing gigs, sponsorships, etc. That guy is a pain in the ass to do business with because he has no idea how business is done beyond the felt.

Take this opportunity to recalibrate your expectations from people to a more socially acceptable norm, then build on that. Build friendships, build business relationships, and do so because these things are more important than staying in action.
I was really pissed off when this whole thing went down with Drexel & Micon largely because I felt that conversations and potentially invaluable council I had given Micon in private on a few occasions during the previous months had clearly been completely squandered, and at this point I still have no idea if he even understands the consequences of his decisions.
