"Birds born in a cage think flying is an illness." - Alejandro Jodorowsky
"America is not so much a nightmare as a non-dream. The American non-dream is precisely a move to wipe the dream out of existence. The dream is a spontaneous happening and therefore dangerous to a control system set up by the non-dreamers." -- William S. Burroughs
Bill DeBlasio’s New York. Gee I wonder why people are fleeing?

U-Hauls are is such short supply in California, that people from LA will drive to my little town 3 hours away to rent one. You can rent one from Texas to California one way for $20 though! This was happening way before the pandemic. That’s all you need to know about what’s going on here economically. Good news for 415JimmyG though, rents are down 10% in SF.
I've been watching California real estate. There's been a decline in value near the big cities, and an increase in value in outlying areas. This is a complete reversal of what started to occur about 15-20 years ago, where there was a general belief that far from the city = undesirable (due to traffic getting to work, being away from the action, etc).
Now it's going back the other way. It's a combination of the coronavirus ("Wow, being in a big city can be dangerous in a pandemic!") and the riots ("Wow, being in a big city makes it more likely that riots will be near you!")
Basically everyone has decided that they want their families far from all of the bullshit.
Right now Jayjami is looking pretty smart for buying a mountain home in the middle of fucking nowhere.
The main reason most of the people are leaving is because over the past few weeks lots of companies, including mine and my girlfriends, have made the call to tell everyone that's been working from home since March that it would stay that way till at least January. No sense staying in your tiny apartment and paying NYC prices to work from home.
lol @ muck ficon defending rapists
They are escaping to the burbs in ny in droves
I am seriously considering moving to Lake Tahoe. Real estate prices there have been rising lately. Thinking about renting a studio and living pretty much at my family’s place until the market cools. I’ll keep my cabin down here though. Still smoky as hell up here now, even though we haven’t had a fire within 200 miles of us. Less than 2 miles visibility.

Yup. Even the New York Times is reporting on it.

Mayor DiBlasio said no indoor dining until vaccine is made. LOL.
