Nah. I am sure they ran Floyd's ID and were aware of his criminal history at the beginning of the encounter. When something like this happens pretty much the first thing they do is run your ID.

They would have known his history after running his ID which I assume they did.

The point is it’s nauseating watching the media paint the guy as being a harmless victim. I can’t tell you how many times a heard “gentile giant” used by people Cuomo and Lemon had on. If they were genuine they would have tracked down the woman that he robbed at gunpoint, I wonder if she would characterize him as a “gentle giant”.

Now they’re trying to paint the guy in Atlanta as being a saint.

Obviously some police reform is a good thing but is anyone gonna step up from the black community and say hey we have a responsibility in this as well?

You really think at no point in this encounter (probably very early) Floyd wasn't identified? I don't know for a fact one way or another, but I would be completely shocked if he wasn't.

I can't figure out if they actually got his ID one way or the other. Earliest footage I've seen they were trying to get him into a squad car when the 2 other cops showed up.

He did serve a 15 day sentence once for 'failure to identify himself to the arresting officer' though.

It's worth it to read through his past. He grew up in the projects in Texas. single mom etc. First arrest at 23 yo in 1997 for delivering < 1g of coke. He got 6 months in prison for that and was in and out of jail for weeks to months for mostly petty theft and selling drugs (never any weight), then he robbed someone in 2007 at gun point.

There's video footage from 7:55 (when the cops were called), to 8:30 or so when he's dead that shows everything from multiple angles.

There's nothing that shows them taking his identification, maybe at 8:13 they get his name, but that's not enough to identify him.

The fact that bystanders three full minutes before Chauvin lifts his knee, are saying that he's unresponsive and not moving, and trying to intervene, and Chauvin just keeps his knee on him when he is obviously out isn't a good look.

All of that said, it's just so weird to me that Chauvin keeps on him even when a fellow officer tells him that he's out, even when the crowd is telling the officers.

Like I have said before in this thread, either like one of the worst officers of all time, or there was some other history there, those are the only two explanations that make sense.
