the republican party = donald trump. even supposed non-maga guys love trump because liberals hate him.

if he wants to run in 2024, he's the candidate. if he wants it to be don jr., then it will be him.

the RNC literally deleted their policy platform to instead just say they support whatever trump wants.

that actually happened.

meanwhile, centrist democrats might be closer to republicans than the AOC wing.

that being said, the current problem for republicans is that trump is not going away. even from his jail cell he will be the kingmaker in 2024. if trump somehow isn't in jail and runs, the left will be fully unified against him just like in 2020. if it's don jr., the result will be the same.

when youre literally terrified of diversity, progress, justice, and social equality because it dilutes your edge in the game of life, youre going to have a lot in common with the other people rallying around that flag.

i hope i'm being overly cynical, but i think that describes 99% of the population. people vote for their own self-interest first. if there's even a chance that giving something to another group hurts them personally, most people are against it.

it's s matter of convincing people that the things they think might hurt them, in fact, won't, and will even benefit them in the short and long term.

dems can make gains as long as their messaging is smart

but this is why phrases like "defund the police" are so dumb. you need a message that somehow gives you what you want (e.g., police reform), while also appealing to all people, not just some.
