This article was in the NYT about a month ago when the Trump campaign was pushing for 4 debates rather than 3. I think it’s obvious the Trump campaign knows he’s trailing yuge and his aids know he needs the debates. I can’t see Biden’s team wanting him to be able to be portrayed in anyway as ducking debates.

Trump clearly wants packed houses where he can feed off the energy, no shot in hell he will get that. My best guess is the Biden campaign will negotiate either 2 or 3 debates, with very limited crowd size due to COVID. Trump will of course attack that directly, through surrogates or re-tweets etc. in the end, Trump will take what he can get. My best guess would be a reduction to two debates with a very limited (possibly just media) crowd. Trump’s (small) hand will be forced.

Because the debates are run by sane people, there's no way they allow a packed auditorium. Sparse socially distanced crowd at best, live by remote is possible. If Trump doesn't agree to that it's his fault and he will look like an asshole (again).

MI will be deep red before long, Detroit has lost 50% of its population since 2000. It may or may not flip in 2020, but this notion it is a reliable Dem state is not accurate anymore. If not for the virus, Trump would have carried the state by 5 points. Not sure what will happen post virus though.

Wisconsin is going for Trump plain and simple. But PA is a problem for Trump no doubt. FL will be tight. AZ, TX and GA going for Biden is absurd.

As far as these polls go, LOL. They target registered voters, not likely voters. For instance, Muck Ficon would say he hates Trump in a poll, but he likely has never voted in his life because he has at best a community college degree. According to many his wife on DD radio had at best a GED.

Remember, in August Michael Dukakis was up 17 points in August before the election.

While you guys are obsessing over a Trump defeat which is pretty obvious at this point, how about taking a step back and acknowledging the epic failure of the Dems outside of Biden.

$200m was spent on unseating McConnell and Graham, and both were Republican blowouts.

The House is going to result in 11-15 (probably closer to 15) lost seats for the Dems, in a year where their Presidential candidate is going to win by 4+ million popular votes.

As many as four "safe" Democratic seats are going to go back to the GOP. And by "safe", I'm talking about seats where everyone was totally relaxed and the GOP was thought to have zero point zero chance of reclaiming them. Guess how many safe Republican seats flipped? Zilcho.

What does this mean? To me it's pretty obvious.

Trump lost half because COVID showed up in his reelection year. and half because he beat himself.

Swing voters aren't happy with Democrats right now. This should be painfully obvious. Swing voters are very concerned about the party's rapid shift to extremity, and not many were fooled that the BLM/Antifa protests were "peaceful". They do not trust the Democrats with matters such as taxes, law-and-order, and healthcare. Swing voters also see the media for what it has truly become, and they're concerned about cancel culture. Swing voters support gay marriage, gay rights, and respectful treatment of trans people, but are not on board for the extreme LGBTQ insanity we've seen over the past few years.

I think 2020 is going to confuse Democrats. They're going to pat themselves on the back for defeating Trump, and become complacent. "If we beat him, especially with a weak candidate like Biden, that must show we're doing something right."

They are probably going to ignore the rest of the messaging from the 2020 election -- from the unexpectedly close Presidential race, to the disappointing Senate race, to the bad House results, to the record-breaking minority percentages going for the GOP this time.

I expect to have a big smile on my face after the first week of November 2022.

Quite literally the worst possible pick. Trump is already polling better against Biden in the RCP average than he was against Hilldawg at this point, and in the latest Rasmussen poll (only poll to correctly call the 2016 margin) Biden +3, Hill/HarrisX Biden +3, Emerson Biden +4. +3 is the probable victory line, and barring some unforeseen disaster, I'd be shocked if Trump isn't polling ahead of that in credible polls by the end of the month. The next IBD/Tipp poll will be telling. There is the phenomena of 2016 where Trump supporters will not only not be detected but also not answer polling because of the pushback of current events. Trump creeping up this close already given the even more hostile climate than in 2016 has to be rattling the DNC. I think we got Copmala because better candidates will hold out until the likely sure thing of a 2020 ticket.

Polls are all over the place. Rasmussen has Trump's favorability at 48%. A poll came out today Trump is ahead in Georgia at 7% over Biden.

His base is probably 43-44% which obviously not enough to win. He simply needs to peel away 3% of Independents and he will win. By all estimates the virus is going to cool in late August. I know people hate to believe this because most missed out, but the stock market is the leading indicator of the future and it is soaring. A vaccine is close, whether it works or not is not relevant for Trump, it just needs to be announced before November and he will coast.

This notion Biden being senile does not matter is a joke. It's a binary choice and when the public sees Biden on stage for 3 debates they are simply going to have to evaluate the VP pick since they will likely be President if Biden wins. And they will vote for Trump or stay home because most of the country do not like left wing lunatics.
