Traflagar Group, a consulting firm out of Georgia that does very few polls, was the only poll to show Trump winning Michigan and one of just two showing him winning Pennsylvania in 2016.

They released a poll for Minnesota last night that has Biden and Trump tied. People will make fun of this and call them overly Republican biased etc., but they also showed Trump winning Georgia by +7 in 2016 when people called it a possible swing state after a couple polls showed Clinton actually ahead there. The final result was Trump +5.

Minnesota is probably the least likely of these to flip, and if it really is this close, the neighboring 2016 rust belt states have to be a huge value currently for Trump bettors.

These polls conveniently tightened up dramatically in the releases the last two days before the election. Part of it was some making up their mind, but no way were 8% of the electorate undecided in late October. They tried to drop the bias to reestablish credibility. I honestly believe this was also to push the narrative and talking point we've heard since then: "but the polls weren't wrong". Even in the final polls, most were off by 3-4 points. People discredit everything team Trump says, but extremely biased polling definitely is an intentional form of voter suppression. It squashes enthusiasm.

This election is super hard to poll, and now super hard to predict.

Among the factors:

1) Trump-support shame. The media has pushed the "You are a racist if you support Trump" line so aggressively that many people have become afraid to admit they will vote for him, even to pollsters. When pollsters call them, they instinctively lie and either say "undecided" or "Biden". Note this also occurred in 2016, and similarly occurred in 2008 when people quietly wanted to vote to outlaw gay marriage in California, but were afraid to admit it out loud.

2) Super-weird 2020. We have a pandemic which is nothing like anyone voting has ever experienced (save for a few people over 100), and social unrest/rioting which has been even worse than what we saw in the 1968 Vietnam War era. At first this substantially dragged Trump's chances down (especially the coronavirus), but now the Democrats' gladhandling of the rioting had come to bite them in the ass, and people are starting to go back the other way.

3) Very flawed candidate on both sides. Biden repeatedly failed in his attempts to run for President, and finally broke through at age 78 simply because the DNC realized that they had to back him or Bernie was going to get the nomination. So you have Trump with all of his personality flaws on one side, and creepy, senile Biden on the other. It's hard to tell where many people are going to land.


The Kenosha thing may have fucked Biden in Wisconsin. If it spills over to Michigan and other swing states, Biden's in trouble.

On the plus side for Biden, Pennsylvania has always liked him, so he's probably taking that one down.

Trump can win without PA, though. GW Bush didn't have Pennsylvania either time, and Trump would have won without it in 2016.

Biden can't bring himself to do what could greatly increase his chances to win.

If he came out and said something like, "I want everyone to know that not only am I strongly against the rioting and looting taking place, but I feel these are criminal acts which should be prosecuted. Under my Adminisration, I can tell you that this won't continue, and we will do whatever is necessary to make all streets safe again."

This would piss of the lefties, but would win over a ton of swing voters.

The recent rebound for Trump is coming from voters who are afraid that Biden and the Democrats are going to be perpetually "understanding" about rioting, arson, and looting, as long as the "cause" seems noble.

People want this shit to stop, and the Democrats are projecting implicit (or sometimes direct) support of these criminals.

Keep in mind that you can be liberal and call out scumbag rioters at the same time. That's what liberals did in 1992 during the LA riots, and notice that Democrats had a great election that November.

The recent Democrat strategy of always taking the woke side has brought Trump right back into the race.
