The reason nobody is taking you bet is because Obama is ahead. It would be like accepting a bet at haltime with your team down 21 points.

Romney always had an uphill battle because he complains about 47 million being on food stamps whereas Obama embraces it. At least the momentum might be turning though.

But this thread was not about the first Tuesday in November. It was about tonight's debate where Obama was clearly outclassed by someone who is clearly more competent. But here again, you did not watch it because your guy got trounced. If there tables were turned you'd be here giving your analysis. You sure showed up her right when the debate was over though and sure sound pretty petty right now.

I never post in the political threads but my opinion is that our country is fucked until we get a strong 3rd party.

But unless you have someone with about $10 billion to donate, and 10 years of their time to devote to the cause, it aint happening.

I hate when Presdential candidates talk about education, since they have little control over that. States manage their own educational systems, and any meddling by the federal government (such as No Child Left Behind) end up being bureaucratic failures.

they could simply give money to the states, maybe fund teacher's salaries better? I mean in a market system paying teachers shit....way below market, but requiring to get expensive degrees ain't working.

this is one of many simple solutions, but the governing party always wants to tie education funding to some partisan hack bullshit like absstinence programs or evolution or creationism or minority school funding......then nothing gets done. Education is an emotional issue for those of us with kids and education bills get each party stirred up and the idealogue creeps of each party come spewing out of the congressional toilet, overrunning any chance of a common sense bill.

Again I belive our country is being ruined by two things: non comprimising idealogical politics (as opposed to practical) and special interest groups and their lobbying. Their lobbying is so massively successful because the survival instincts of our lawmakers allow them to be bought for pennies on the dollar. 50 million in donations and lobbying often leads to billion dollar results. If corporations that understand bottom lines so well are spending money on politics, you know goddamn well they are going to recoup a "profit" out of that investment. We must find a way to stop this practice.

If Romney is such a bad candidate, wouldn't it be better for the long term interest of the Republican Party if he lost this election and in 4 years a more suitable republican candidate ran for president rather than having him win and then get probably 8 years out of him?

If he wins the Presidency and is as terrible as some people think he will be than in 8 years won't that just set the stage to flip back to a democrat vs. Having someone run in 4 that will do a much better job and possibly set up a longer republican run? I would think a lot of the better candidates sit out the elections that will require them to run against the current president.

Elect people who have no political career ambitions and at least seem like they truly want to serve the people. Say what you will about Jesse Ventura but one promise he made and kept was that he would not be a career politician.
