Its possible. But also keep in mind it is a long holiday weekend, so reporting is probably backed up. I think I read somewhere there is a dip pretty much every weekend, and Tuesday is the catch up day where numbers jump up.
I obviously hope the CA numbers are true and will hold, but I am skeptical. I suspect a lot of homeless shelters and nursing homes where testing/results haven't come in yet. FWIW my wife's hospital has much less serious cases than they expected, and they are actually running at lower capacity than normal because so many "elective" medical procedures aren't happening, but overall they are still doing very little testing of likely COVID cases. They are still just telling people to stay at home and self quarantine, and not offering any testing to most.

My understanding is you have to look at morbidity/mortality within age groups with respect to vaccination in addition to overall morbidity/mortality. Some countries the older people never got the vaccine because it started late; and other countries they discontinued vaccines, so it is younger people who never got vaccinated. And like I mentioned before, there is a Japanese version of the vaccine that a few countries use (off the top of my head I remember Pakistan was one of those countries, and obv Japan) that the researchers argued seemed to predict much lower morbidity/mortality.
I’m sure it has nothing to do with obesity rate there is only 5%.

Here is a story from my city about what someone is going through. Again this makes me wonder if things in Canada are worse than they let on and how many real cases we have. They don’t have enough testing facilities and the public seems in the dark. Also several comments are by people talking about losing sense of taste and smell as an early warning sign.
My dad died at the civic hospital. He had covid-19. We couldnt even have a funeral for him because we all had contact with him before he went into the hospital. Just had to call the funeral home to allow the hospital to release the body and provide the credit card number on the phone for cremation. It really sucks.
Even though my dad tested positive, there are eight of us who also got sick at the same time but we never got tested. We couldnt get tested because we didnt have the symptoms that public health screens for (fever, chest pains, shortness of breath, foreign travel, cough). We didnt have any of those. We got headaches, insane body aches, no energy and we all lost our sense of taste and smell (even now 3 weeks later I cant smell anything).
Anyway, I am posting this because I just think those stats on "confirmed cases" are such an underestimate of actual cases.
I also just wanted to say that I never ever thought this would happen to our family. We were careful. Stayed home, no visits, no parks, etc. but we didnt wear masks at the grocery store or gloves etc. I also wasnt all that afraid because of all the reports saying that 80% of cases will only experience mild symptoms. When they say mild do they just mean "will not need to go to the hospital"? Because we were completely incapacitated by the virus. It was the worst pain I have ever felt. It was like being visited by a dementor.

Weird, my wife had some training with Public Health (a week or two? ago) and they indicated that lack of smell is very common in the strain around here.
It seems like possible symptoms are very dynamic and to get everyone on the same page is tough.
We've missed the boat on extensive testing and contact tracing for wave 1, I really hope they get their act together before wave 2.

this is nothing but heresay but I have a buddy who does a lot of work in Iraq and a girlfriend with a child in Pakistan and they both say the same things regarding the shithole country responses to Covid. Basically that the health care system is so fucked that nobody has any chance of surviving if they get seriously ill, so they put the whole country on lockdown using the military and people literally cannot leave their house. But that people can do that there, cause things are always in chaos and flux and almost everyone has 2-3 weeks supply of rice/staples to eat so they dont have to run to the store every 3 days like we do. No idea if this is true but it seems plausible and would account for some of the low health care numbers I suppose
Every single quote and statement I can find from Fauci in January and February downplayed the virus almost identically to Trump, leading me to believe that his comments genuinely might have been on the advice of so called experts.
This guy is now the media and "useful idiot" social media savior that Trump didn't listen to.
