its not fucking possible for them to socially distance.

one factor we can be absolutely sure of is they are doing virtually no testing. but where are the bodies? they didnt even start restricting travel from china until weeks after us.

    this is some bullshit.
    Maybe it's this,
    BCG vaccine use in India:
India and Pakistan introduced BCG mass immunization in 1948, the first countries outside Europe to do so. In 2015, millions of infants were denied BCG vaccine in Pakistan for the first time due to shortage globally.

This would only be true if a vaccine, cure, or semi-cure was unlikely ever to come.

Since they will come, everyone putting off the disease as long as possible is the smartest play.

    Deaths from 4/11 5pm-4/12 5pm --- 1528

It appears the death peak has been reached, and it is now falling, perhaps rapidly. This is due to social distancing, of course. Obviously if everyone goes back out before a major breakthrough occurs (a cure/semi-cure or vaccine), a second wave will begin.

California has had just 115 deaths in the past 72 hours.
Its possible. But also keep in mind it is a long holiday weekend, so reporting is probably backed up. I think I read somewhere there is a dip pretty much every weekend, and Tuesday is the catch up day where numbers jump up.

I obviously hope the CA numbers are true and will hold, but I am skeptical. I suspect a lot of homeless shelters and nursing homes where testing/results haven't come in yet. FWIW my wife's hospital has much less serious cases than they expected, and they are actually running at lower capacity than normal because so many "elective" medical procedures aren't happening, but overall they are still doing very little testing of likely COVID cases. They are still just telling people to stay at home and self quarantine, and not offering any testing to most.

In the short term I doubt the markets have this possibility factored in at all. But if you think it is likely this hypothesis is true, it could affect how the market goes in the medium/long term.
My initial feelings are there is something to this.

Australia are doing a trial with 5,000 health workers right now.

India are not doing that many tests which makes it harder to figure exactly what's going on, but their reported cases and deaths is crazy low considering the high risk factors.... and they have no reason to lie.
I was looking at Germany which has a super low death rate compared to most of Europe. They were big on the BCG vaccine.
But the UK is starting to get hit really hard at the moment and they did plenty of BCG vaccinations until recently. Though, there is several different types of BCG vaccines in use and perhaps they differ in regard to COVID.

BCG is a real interesting one as it trains the immune system and has been proven to have other benefits other then tuberculosis, other infections and leprosy... it's even a treatment for bladder cancer.

To be perfectly honest I can't understand why our figures in Australia are so good. We're not self isolating well, our beaches are packed as I type this. I was thinking the weather might be helping.
We had 6,000 cases a few weeks ago, most were imported from other countries, but we now have over 3,000 recovered and just under 3,000 active cases.
Iran was getting smashed early on, they have 23,000 active cases and 43,000 recovered. It looked like they were going to be decimated but they've turned the corner quite quickly... they were doing BCG vaccinations.
South America as another example, the figures from SA are relatively low. They also did plenty of BCG vaccinations, same with Africa but again the testing is very low and hard to get a grasp on what's happening their.

Good info none the less verminaard.
I do think you're on to something.
My understanding is you have to look at morbidity/mortality within age groups with respect to vaccination in addition to overall morbidity/mortality. Some countries the older people never got the vaccine because it started late; and other countries they discontinued vaccines, so it is younger people who never got vaccinated. And like I mentioned before, there is a Japanese version of the vaccine that a few countries use (off the top of my head I remember Pakistan was one of those countries, and obv Japan) that the researchers argued seemed to predict much lower morbidity/mortality.

I’m sure it has nothing to do with obesity rate there is only 5%.

And I’m sure the obesity rate there has nothing to do with a raccoon in the USA having better food options.

Here is a story from my city about what someone is going through. Again this makes me wonder if things in Canada are worse than they let on and how many real cases we have. They don’t have enough testing facilities and the public seems in the dark. Also several comments are by people talking about losing sense of taste and smell as an early warning sign.

My dad died at the civic hospital. He had covid-19. We couldnt even have a funeral for him because we all had contact with him before he went into the hospital. Just had to call the funeral home to allow the hospital to release the body and provide the credit card number on the phone for cremation. It really sucks.

Even though my dad tested positive, there are eight of us who also got sick at the same time but we never got tested. We couldnt get tested because we didnt have the symptoms that public health screens for (fever, chest pains, shortness of breath, foreign travel, cough). We didnt have any of those. We got headaches, insane body aches, no energy and we all lost our sense of taste and smell (even now 3 weeks later I cant smell anything).

Anyway, I am posting this because I just think those stats on "confirmed cases" are such an underestimate of actual cases.

I also just wanted to say that I never ever thought this would happen to our family. We were careful. Stayed home, no visits, no parks, etc. but we didnt wear masks at the grocery store or gloves etc. I also wasnt all that afraid because of all the reports saying that 80% of cases will only experience mild symptoms. When they say mild do they just mean "will not need to go to the hospital"? Because we were completely incapacitated by the virus. It was the worst pain I have ever felt. It was like being visited by a dementor.

GF is an MD, I work as an esstiatial service for GOC.

Every time either return home we sniff our dogs ear to see if we can still smell him (his ear wax smells).

QC has told its doctors about the smell thing going first (usually in 72 to 96 hours) and we use it as our daily

Weird, my wife had some training with Public Health (a week or two? ago) and they indicated that lack of smell is very common in the strain around here.

It seems like possible symptoms are very dynamic and to get everyone on the same page is tough.

We've missed the boat on extensive testing and contact tracing for wave 1, I really hope they get their act together before wave 2.

Are you in BC? As of Friday in Alberta there is a surplus of test kits, policy here is to now test everyone asking assuming they show symptoms no matter how minor. Hospitals here have empty beds and deaths have been very low.

this is nothing but heresay but I have a buddy who does a lot of work in Iraq and a girlfriend with a child in Pakistan and they both say the same things regarding the shithole country responses to Covid. Basically that the health care system is so fucked that nobody has any chance of surviving if they get seriously ill, so they put the whole country on lockdown using the military and people literally cannot leave their house. But that people can do that there, cause things are always in chaos and flux and almost everyone has 2-3 weeks supply of rice/staples to eat so they dont have to run to the store every 3 days like we do. No idea if this is true but it seems plausible and would account for some of the low health care numbers I suppose

This guy is now the media and "useful idiot" social media savior that Trump didn't listen to.
