Daniel Negreanu says odds are probably close to even money that WSOP 2020 is cancelled.
I think it will be cancelled if there are cases of coronavirus in Nevada. The Rio flu is real. Every year a lot of people catch it. How much money would Caesars lose if the WSOP is cancelled?

To think that Sonatine's headline on this thread is more of a dire warning than Trump has given, STILL to this day, is amazing.
The guy should be running a casino, he shouldn't be in the oval office,
a hoax? Still?, yeah, OK, well thanks a lot to all those other 85 countries for going along w/Pelosi's trick.
Just asinine, then to tell people to go to work even if you have it?
Trump floats his own coronavirus theories on 'Hannity'
https://www.politico.com/news/2020/0...th-rate-121892
President Donald Trump on Wednesday night spun a web of theories minimizing the coronavirus' threat to Americans, accusing the World Health Organization of dispensing inaccurate facts about the outbreak and suggesting that those with the disease would be safe going to work.

What does the peak of COVID-19 in China tell us? Is it safe to assume other nations will be as able to control this just like China did (bu alas and unfortunately containment to China/Asia didn't happen - perhaps because travel was not drum tight in the beginning)? I realize some of you still think I'm insane. But hear me out. The ROW yellow line is doing what it did in the China-specific line earlier. Even though there are many nations that must work at this now, I think there will still be moderate to great success by April. Trump will "catch a break" because scientists know this will likely happen and someone smart told Trump to be an ass about all this and make it look like he's a wizard and he will and the American public always votes in wizards.

First coronavirus case reported in Nevada
Mar. 5, 2020 10:45 AM ET| By: Clark Schultz, SA News Editor
The first patient in Nevada has tested "presumptively positive" for coronavirus, according to the Nevada Independent.
The individual was identified through the VA Southern Nevada Healthcare System.
The threat of reduced traffic to Nevada casinos is widely expected to linger through the end of March based on anecdotal reports and conference cancellations. The picture gets a little fuzzier when trying to forecast the impact in April and beyond.

My family and I have pretty much come to a consensus about the virus.
If we get sick we get sick. Nobody is dying.
Wife is going to Florida with her friends Monday. They got a AirBnB with kitchen. Kid is going to Oslo Norway next week too. Sucks being sick on the road but let’s see how we run.
I wonder if the country slowly adopts this attitude too.
I think the average person will. I think most already have. I don’t know if government can. I expect they’ll eventually have to cancel that flight to Norway and we’ll be watching baseball games with empty stadiums. They can’t just say YOLO. They’ll catch too much heat when it gets widespread and people have to bury grandma.

I think this article puts things in perspective pretty good. On the cruise ship where they tested everyone (not just the people sick enough to go to the doctor) the death rate was 0.85%, and everyone who died was over 70. Also, even this might be skewing things high, because there were probably very few children on board, and it seems the disease is pretty much always mild in children.
so you are home alone... what's your plans?
We are on our way to Palm Springs as we do every year to watch tennis (BNP Indian Wells) and play golf for a few weeks or so. We had planned to go to Disney Land for a day but that plan may change. My wife is a little concerned as she watches the news and I am more oblivious to things as this site and TMZ are my source for news and current events.

I think maybe ROW cases goes up for a while, not parabolic, and then peters out, almost a carbon copy like what is happening in China (even if those numbers are somewhat fake).
Think about the seasonal flu. Most people don't do shit to protect themselves and most DON'T get the flu each season. People are doing A LOT more to stay out of harm's way with coronavirus vs. the flu.
Sadly, petering out still means maybe 10's to 100's of new cases per day (ROW) for a while even by late March. Localized, with communities going into isolation mode when they get a spike. This COULD go on for years. Or it could be gone miraculously. BTW, MERS is still sporadically an issue and happening. SARS disappeared. This won't go parabolic I reckon.
hey guys great news

Right now I'm putting my own odds of attending the 2020 WSOP at 80%.
Italy, whew. If this thing kills off old Italian guys, given the demographics of my town, I’ll be attending 6 funerals a day. I’ll hear My Way played 100 times a week with their 84 grandkids crying.
I don't care if I get it, I just don't want to be the one to give it to my older parents. It wouldn't be the worst thing for everyone young to show up and catch it somewhere then go take a 2 week break.
One thing that no one mentions is the drain this has on medical staff/equipment. What happens when half your nursing home staff is sick and half the patients are literally on the verge of death? Bring in people not sick to get sick !?
What happens when the hospitals are out of ventilators and other things of this nature? Sure you will be ok.. but it is going to make some sensational news and some people are likely to get the short end of the stick.
It's probably now 80% chance of the WSOP being cancelled and Las Vegas is looking at 80% of the convention business being cancelled as well.
Casinos will suffer, people won't travel to Las Vegas for awhile because Nevada is infected.
People will avoid restaurants and gatherings of large groups of people.
