If you want to really feel old, Susanna Hoffs of the Bangles turns 60 this Thursday. Here she is at age 27 and 52. "Manic Monday" was a gift to them from Prince, while "A Hazy Shade of Winter" is an old Simon and Garfunkel song.

I don't know what weapons World War III will be fought with, but World War IV will be fought with sticks and stones.

Sorry. did not know about Townsend and yet I heard very weird stuff with Bowie
To be clear, don't care how good you are musically, you are dead to me if you

all the greats fucked minors but only the greatest fucked miners
Imagine this, I went to Vancouver, Richards on Richards to see my all time favourite. Stephen Malkmus...and the Jicks. Not the first time, maybe the third. Anyway....there was some delay as the opening band was
apparently not available.....we wait....not that long afterwards a young woman with a guitar appears on stage and proceeds to level me
This replacement act turned out to be Neko Case.
Her voice shut everyone up
No one introduced her, no one said anything afterwards

Don't believe all you hear on the internet.
I just heard a well known podcaster
say that David Bowie was short.
Had to fact check and no he wasn't
unless you think 5'10" is short
I also think I heard that Prince, who was short,
was pretty good on the basketball court

5’10” is short if you’re a kid today. What serious sport are you gonna play in high school at that height? Mookie Betts of the Red Sox just signed for $20 million. He’s thought of as a short guy at 5’10” with surprising power for his size.
I laugh every time Druff refers to himself as tall at 6’1”. In his day he may have felt tall. 6’ is the cutoff for the ride if the coach is generous.
If you are gonna be slammin the pre history, drop some knowledge. You did great here. JohnnyCommode did that above.
As he points out, you’d be surprised how fast time has passed and how prehistoric the music is now. It’s important and everything has been built on what came before, There is zero original shit. Just incremental change. But we must deal with the clock.
This is coming from a guy obsessed by music of the 60’s. Who inspired who. The landmark albums. Which musicians jumped from band to band. I find it all fascinating.
Bohemian Rhapsidy. I suck with names. Maybe I don’t suck as much as I probably really don’t care. Ignorance or apathy, right?
Anyway, I nickname all my contractors. I don’t see them often and they are usually over $125/hr so I try to express an interest. I have an HVAC guy named Ryan. All our air conditioning units are on the roof. His nickname is “Rooftop Ryan”
I got another HVAC guy. Freddie. New guy to me. Now, a unit of refrigerant pressure is “inches of mercury”. So I look at the guy and announce he shall henceforth be known as “Freddie Mercury”
Kid doesn’t react. He’s about 30 he tells me. I’m thinking it’s cause I used the word “henceforth” and he’s homophobic.
“Did you see Bohemian Rhapsidy?”, I ask.
“No”, Freddie Mercury says.
“Do you know who Queen is?”
“A little bit”, He says.

Lies, damn lies & statistics. Ive gone down the rabbit hole of the height statistics and they dont work for me. I cant explain how they are skewed.
Maybe your grandmother is 55 and then there are all those malnourished Mexicans in LA. I have no idea why the average height is said to be 59.
I run a health Club. I stand at the front desk and watch kids come through the door. After all these years I am still absolutely amazed how big kids are these days.
There was a time at 6 5 or more the kid would be kind of goofy looking and awkward. Just natural and proportional now.
A commercial door is 80 or 68. Kids are on college break now. I see a ton of them and its freightening how close they come to knocking their hat off.
My kid was 61 and he was the shortest kid on his college baseball team. Baseball not basketball.
Was Bowie short in his or your day? Is Bowie short today? The podcaster obviously is a younger guy.
Did you check your son's chess club? They likely are the behind the average height being 5' 10".
Your view is going to be skewed if you only look at college sports teams as it is an average we're talking bout.
I'd be more inclined to believe you if you owned a convenience store with the measuring tape beside the door.
btw, the podcaster is Chuck from Stuff You Should Know. He's in his late forties
and a musician.....I can't believe he said it.... maybe it was in a dream
