and guess what, a measurable percentage of those thumbnail popup ads would contain a few images that featured under aged models. aka child pornography, as legally defined. no one deliberately put them there. they got hoovered up off porn newsgroups, image boards, anywhere and everywhere that had downloadable tits.
heres the thing tho; it didnt matter. once the image was transferred digitally to their computer, the network scanners flagged it and usually within 24 hours that scientist was frog marched off the premises.
security clearance revoked.
career destroyed.
and we are talking about people with decades long careers who deliberately avoided cashing in on their skills so they could help save the fucking planet.
if i had to guess, 4d landed in the grey zone between people who accidentally stumble across child pornography and actual pedophiles who collect CP.
towards the end of his tenure here he made no secret that he was farming for pro-trump talking points from /pol/ on 4chan and once you go down that rabbithole, youre pretty much 2 mouse clicks away from actual child porn threads that get posted in /b/.
its entirely possible his curiosity got the best of him and he thought he could just casually click on a link and see what the big deal was and it just happened to be a link hosted on an fbi honeypot.
that would 100% explain the lack of prosecutorial ambition at bar.
actual pedos tend to collect CP in earnest so they can trade, thats usually how the end up with thousands of images. this doesnt feel like one of those situations at face value.
that said he clearly 100% did something intentionally to end up in the jackpot so fuck that guy.
