While this hasn't been officially announced, the Dodgers extended a $17.9 qualifying offer to Yasmani Grandal.
If he accepts it, they will have to pay him that for 2019. If he refuses it, then any team signing him as a free agent will owe the Dodgers a draft pick.
Personally I think they're better off just letting him go, instead of trying to gamble on getting a draft pick (hoping he rejects the offer).
He definitely isn't worth $18m, even if it's just 1 year.
Dodger Qual Offer to both Grandal & Ryu...if either was wanted really big time a new contract would be drawn up---both players probably want multi-year deals which they figure to get as free agents but the Dodgers are reluctant to give...so QO and salvage some value
