I'm surprised none of you Dodgers fans are commenting on Wade Miley being yanked after 5 pitches today? . As a listed starter I see he was +165 . Did smart money know he was intentionally getting yanked after facing one batter?

Seems a bit fucked off if you bet The Brewers today not knowing that info

This wasn't known. It was a secret Brewers plan.

Miley was +165 because Kershaw is always overvalued nowadays.

Though I guess today a bet on him was the right play.

Anyway, while the Astros mounted a pretty dramatic fight at the end, they're now down 3-1, with 2 of the remaining three in Boston.

Looking fairly likely to be Dodgers/Red Sox, just like MLB and the TV networks wanted.

Not sure how I feel about clubs doing this. I know they don't give a shit about gamblers but in all reality if anybody in the gambling world knew about it wouldn't that be a huge edge?

It reminds me of Greg Popovich . You always have and had to worry about him pulling his starters three minutes into a game . Or announcing within 30 minutes of game time his starters would not play. I actually witnessed this in a Spurs vs Blazers game a few years back. Original line was Spurs -8 at game time it was Blazers -12 . Line changes came in about 2 hours before tip off and just kept moving .

If MLB gets a percentage like they are after for sports wagering would these shenanigans be avoided for fear of fines to coaches?

fan interference helps Astros to lose - another Bartman thing-to me looks like good call - looks like Mookie would have caught it

I was so hoping for Bewers/Astros just for the network despondency at the ratings.

That ball was leaving the yard, the fans didn't even reach out over the wall.

How can you assume someone is going to make a catch to rob a home run?

To turn what would have left the yard into an out in that situation is just criminal.

Goes against the spirit of the game, IMO. Terrible call, don't care about the rule, which is selectively enforced regardless.

okay, you have a point - my saying he would have caught it was too strong
but, it definitely looked like the fan interfered and hurt his chances of catching it
the fan definitely hit his glove - that can't be okay -

    Dodgers v Red Sox

1 percenter sports in the Trump era

I am taking huge flak locally and really can’t find an acceptable way to choose sides.

When the sun rises tomorrow I trust that I will embrace the serenity that will come from appreciating that one of those two teams will lose. Even now I feel a smile developing.

Even though I root against them because they are a garbage team on the field, off the field, in the stands, and in a 250 mile surrounding radius of Fenway Park, this might be the most lopsided WS we will have in a long time.

Sox in 5. Only game Sox will lose is when Price pitches.

To think, even for a moment, that a team that struggles in the National League has any kind of a shot.

What exactly does Billy Jean King and her life partner bring to that circus of an ownership group anyway?

    This reminds me of 1988.

The Oakland A's were supposedly so powerful and unbeatable, while the Dodgers were supposed to be a weak team of mostly nobodies who luckily squeaked by the Mets.

Five games later, it was over.

I'm glad you're at least leaving the Brewers for dead, though. That series isn't quite over yet.

Anyway, assuming it is Dodgers/Sawks, you're overlooking that the Dodgers have good enough starting pitching to where they can be competitive every game, the bullpen has looked great in the postseason, and they can hit HR really well.

It is worth noting that the Dodgers didn't hit a single home run in their 3 games at Dodger Stadium against the Brewers, which is rare for them. If they continue this trend, they won't beat the Sawks.

But don't count them out. The Dodgers have enough strength to surprise people.

Surprised you being a Giants fan to see you ask that question. You remember a Giant's relief pitcher during the 1970's: Randy Moffitt? He is Billie Jean King's kid brother...her maiden name was Moffitt

and as a kid Billie Jean was good softball player and her youth team, for which she played shortstop, won the Long Beach California city championship...she took up tennis at age 11

thus she has more of a connection to baseball than the other Dodger part owner, Earvin "Magic" Johnson.

These are emotionally trying times for me. But the MLB savant that I am cannot pass up free money. Dodgers are never a lock to beat anyone.

    Dodgers 1-0

This game is far from over but let’s say the Brewers hold this lead for a few more innings.

How many innings do you give Hader?

I know you have to win today to get to tomorrow but do you totally burn him out today?

Few more runs and 6 innings from Miley and we save Hader for game 7

It would have been fun to see the feud between Machado and the Red Sox in Fenway. The Fenway fans are a nasty lot. Dodgers have no experience playing in that environment. Woulda been good.

Pedroia was never the same after that douche bag took him out at second. Sawks fans really don’t need much of an excuse.

Urias was a disaster 2 years ago. Memories are short

I’ll admit I need to start a new book on him. This game could be over as soon as the one eyed kid took the mound.
