Charles Lovett said the other driver nearly sideswiped him Tuesday at an intersection near Interstate 71 in Columbus, so he honked at him — which apparently angered the man driving a Uriah’s Heating, Cooling & Refrigeration truck, reported WTTE-TV.
The contractor followed Lovett to his house, where the black man began recording video of the encounter on his cell phone.
“I just want to let you know what a n*gger you are,” the man says, after Lovett asks what he wants. “You’re a rude n*gger.”
“I’m a n****r because you can’t read street signs right?” Lovett says.
The contractor insists he’s headed to a job nearby and did not follow Lovett home, and he accuses the black man of feeling “entitled” to cut him off in traffic.
“How do I feel entitled?” Lovett says. “You feel entitled because I’m black.”
The contractor then suggests Lovett did not have a job or pay for his own car, and he tells Lovett he was glad to have the opportunity to call him out as rude.
“I’m glad I got all this information that I’ll be sending to the state,” Lovett says, “since you’re a state contractor.”
Lovett points out to the contractor that his truck shows a state license number for his company.
