That was clearly an excuse.
They definitely felt a sense of entitlement to use your work just because they once hosted your videos on their channel, and they felt butthurt when you refused to let them do it.
Admittedly you should have asked them to take them down first before filing DMCA notices with YouTube, but you had every right to ask them to stop exploiting your Wonka mix for publicity once you left them.
I think Marco and Zekda were operating under the false belief that they blew you up huge, and therefore were entitled to use all of your work for free.
