The Dodgers were playing some interesting games with light pitcher work in spring training. Obv some advanced analytics that is far beyond my understanding.

How’d that all work out? At best we can say everyone had a slow start.

You ever follow the Nationals or the Yankees injury list during this season?

    No tears for tears.
yeah maddog had hersheiser on his show and he mentioned that the spring training regimen for kanley might have fucked him up to start the season...

analytics are analytics and I get that, but as ive said before these guys are machines who are trained to do shit a certain way...you start changing that, it can definitely fuck with them...

as far as I know arietta is the only pitcher who sat out spring training and has been at least decent...Holland has been getting his ass beat in st. louis, lynn is getting clocked in Minnesota...change the routine of the robots and shit starts to get fucked up...

Yankees did just as well as the Dodgers last year.

    Took Astros to game 7.

Yankees aren’t regressing. They’ve battled early injuries

I think the comparison will serve as a helpful reminder about which side of curve you are on.

Think about those geriatric Cubs fans who got to see their team win. Longevity continues to increase. You have a very decent shot at seeing a parade.
You keep saying that, but you're incorrect.

Dodgers did better than Yankees because they had to play one more series to get where they did.

They had to beat the Dbacks AND the Cubs, whereas the Yankees only had to win the ALDS to get to face Houston.

didn't the Yankees come back from 0-2 starts twice and beat a very good Indians team?

If someone asked me, "What are the chances you would end up seeing Ichiro's final at-bat?"

My answer would have been, "Wait... would this be announced in advance?"

    The person would reply, "No."

I'd then have asked, "Would Seattle have been playing the Dodgers?"

    Again, no.

I'd then have asked, "Would he have been traded to some other team where he was playing the Dodgers?"

    Again, no.

So I'd put the chances as pretty damn low.

    Well, guess what?

I saw Ichiro's final at-bat. In fact, even BENJAMIN saw his final at-bat, and I explained to Ben who Ichiro was, and the fact that Ichiro is older than his mom,.

I was sweating the Sea/Oak game in the 9th, and Ichiro was up in a critical spot. I told Ben that Ichiro "is very good at not striking out" -- and then he struck out.

Now Ichiro has been released and transferred to an assistant-to-front-office type role:

    http://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/2...st-2018-season

So not only did I see Ichiro's final at-bat of his career, but of all things, it was a strikeout in a spot where he absolutely did not want to strike out.

You saw it on TV? Who gives a shit, why did you even bring that up? I saw Michael Jordan win the NBA title, and I've seen many Super Bowls...on TV.

    That’s awfully harsh Texter.

I enjoy Druff sharing stories of his interactions with his son.

A father raising his son in a sports ghetto. Ichiro might be thin but it’s all they have. Somewhere in Boston a father and son are arguing about whether to watch Celtics playoffs, Bruins playoffs or first place Red Sox.

    Have some compassion

Dodgers get a no hitter in Mexico.

Against the crappy Padres, but still.

Buehler went 6 innings, but his pitch count was high (and they're cautious with his arm), so he was pulled. He did allow 3 walks.

Tony Cingrani went 1 and allowed 2 walks and nothing else.

Yimi Garcia and Adam Libertore each went a perfect inning.

First-ever no hitter taking place in a country besides US or Canada -- a record likely to stand a long time.

The Buehler era has officially begun in Los Angeles.

He doesn't play every day, so he can't have the impact that Bellinger did last year and Puig did in 2013, but this sort of thing can always energize a team, especially if it continues.

I picked up Buehler last year on my fantasy team for $1 (and kept him obv) when nobody else was paying attention to him.

Did the same with Urias a few years ago but obv that was fail.

Anyway, Dodgers had a fail lineup today, with Bellinger inexplicably sitting out (why do that when so many people are hurt, and Bellinger is young enough to withstand daily play?)

They managed to score 4 runs anyway, partially because Kike Hernandez hit well in Bellinger's place. But boy they had a terrible lineup today.

Diamondbacks are getting slaughtered today (bad pick on my part), and are now losers of 3 straight.

Dodgers are now 4-0 against the Padres, and 11-17 against everyone else.

it's cause the astros are systematically putting something sticky on their fingers creating a much higher spin rate

Very sad to see Harvey go.

As Drex mentioned a couple weeks ago on radio, from age 18-20 I dated a girl from Queens and I spent summer of 2013, 2014 and 2015 living with her and her family for two months in the summer break. Living in Queens, my first ever exposure to baseball was the mighty New York Mets and in my three years visiting my girlfriend I went to 20 Home games and went 17-3. The pitching was insane. Harvey, Wheeler, Bartolo, Noah. It was an amazing time and it’s the reason I stay up extremely late here in Europe to keep watching the Mets.

It’s gonna feel different now Harvey is gone.

    End of an era.

great post, and I’m on my phone now but later I will post a study done by one the cards analytic fan sites that shared pretty clear evidence of the unusual uptick in spin rate for Astros pitchers

judging by a lot of cryptic tweets from people inside or close to the cards, yadi might have lost a testicle on that 102mph foul tip against the cubs

On the 20-year-anniversary of Kerry Wood striking out 20 (steroids?), Max Scherzer struck out 15 in 6 1/3 innings -- and then was lifted.

Nationals actually LOSING 4-1 now to the Phillies.

    Also...

Kershaw to the DL with biceps tenderness.

    Dodgers are missing:

    Turner (all year so far)
    Seager (remainder of the year)
    Puig
    Kershaw
    Hill
    Forsythe

    No big deal.
