For all the rhetoric my understanding is that all NK has really wanted all along is for us to leave them alone to do their thing, which we have not been willing to do for geopolitical (and perhaps ethical) reasons, and denuclearization in exchange for security has always been on the table. We are the one that declared war on them and invaded them and are still technically at war with them. Given that, I am not sure this stance is any big breakthrough. From my understanding the big breakthrough would be the US, SK and the rest of the Western World accepting an "evil" NK regime and letting them be.
Edit: In response to Mumbles comments. My understanding is The US did not even have a military presence in South Korea when North Korea invaded. My understanding is NK sincerely believed there was a chance enough South Korean people would join their cause, and the US would not get involved, so they could win. To the North Koreans mind, them invading South Korea in an effort to unite the continent was probably akin to the North in our own civil war invading the South to reunite our country. Also, I have never heard that the US ever presented North Korea with a legitimate peace treaty guaranteeing their sovereignty and security after the armistice. I would appreciate if you would link a cite to this.
I could be wrong, I am not a historian, but I suspect your version of history is heavily propagandized to make our side look righteous and NK to look like the aggressors. Which is understandable. Their version is probably similar going the other way. If you actually have facts that back up your claims I would love to see them.

They've said this before. Negotiations for a formal end to the war took place during the Clinton and Bush administrations and NK always resumes their nuke program.
I hate to give China credit for anything but they are the ones keeping NK alive, and if NK is serious this time it's probably because China no longer sees any use in propping them up.

Do the Libs actually think this lawsuit by the Democratic Party is prudent or necessary? Just seems petty to me and setting a bad precedent. I really am starting to seriously consider moving to Canada. I really am disappointed at all this radical partisan fighting going on in our government right now. Just seems to be getting worse and worse, without any sign that it will get better anytime soon.
It may take you some time to get used to living in a society that actually takes care of its people.
