I've been doing pretty badly in head-to-head bets with PFA members lately, though we could both get fucked here if it lands on 222.

Hate to tell you, but the sharps loved Toronto here, and indeed they're up by 11. I was going to go with it, too, but I didn't like the absences on the Raptors side.

In general you're probably better off not directly opposing the sharps. I'm not saying to parrot their picks (there's many times I don't bet what they bet), but I rarely go directly against them.

One thing which gives me confidence about my process is that my own picks rarely go directly against what the sharps are backing, and I always look at the sharps' choices AFTER I've made my potential choices, so as to not create a bias. So naturally I hardly ever pick against what they do anyway, even not knowing what they pick.

For the under I went with it due to
Under is 21-7 in the last 28 meetings in Toronto.

Lebron usually turns it up against top contenders in the East even during the regular season. I feel like it will be back to tied at half.

Probably nothing, but Chris Paul went for a garbage-time layup with 12 seconds in the Houston/Portland game, instead of holding the ball. Paul's basket allowed the Rockets to win by 9 instead of 7.

The closing line was Houston -7.

Damian Lillard gave Paul a hard time about it: http://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/2...-garbage-layup

Chris Paul has been around for a long time. Why would he do this? That's a big violation of etiquette when there's less than 24 seconds left and your team has an insurmountable lead.

Could it be possible that Paul knew someone with a bet on his team?

It's more likely that Paul wanted to pad his stats, and felt like 7 points was just a short enough lead to where this was still okay.

    Still... weird.

Interesting how the ESPN article did NOT mention the betting line, which I think is very relevant here.

They probably didn't want to piss off Paul and lose future interviews with him (or perhaps even some other kind of relationship in the future).

In this story, they just let Lillard do all the talking.

Cavs being a million points behind is probably going to fuck my over here.

I need 118 in 2H. Not impossible, but in a game separated by 25 points, that's not likely.

So looks like I might lose yet another head-to-head with a PFAer.

Only one I won recently was that Chicago/NY bet where Chaps took NY, but that's probably because I absolutely never lose if the game involves the Knicks, just like I never seem to win if it involves Cleveland.

My Cavs over was actually on a decent pace until the final 7 minutes of 2H, where they scored just 22 points. That's 10.5 points fewer than they need to score in 7 minutes if you're going to cover over 223.

Lebum is a drama queen who likes to go through the same shit every year.:.

Are the Cavs done? Is he too old? Same shit, different year...I'll believe all this sky is falling shit if he looks like AIDS in the playoffs...

Very strange indeed. I think you were right that he felt 7 points was just short enough. Would be interesting to see it be like a 13 point spread and up 11 to see if it still happened.

You see guys guys shoot when they can hold the ball til the buzzer every once in a while but I can't think of a time before where a star player was the one to make the bucket.

I think bad blood can be ruled out because if that happened Paul would have been cussing him back when Lillard came up to him instead of feigning confusion. So that leaves padding stats, brain fart, or spread consciousness and I've watched the clip a bunch and I still don't have a good guess.

No, the Cavs just go through these terrible stretches (more in the first half of the season than the second), and then they get dominant again, and then they get REALLY dominant in the playoffs -- at least until they hit the Finals.

This game was more of a statement for Toronto, who has their outside hopes of somehow winning the East -- something I considered betting not too long ago at +1600, and kinda regret not doing, because honestly the team looks really good. But Toronto also is a habitual playoff choker, and Cleveland just mows down everyone in the East during the postseason, so it's probably Cleveland's year yet again.

BTW Toronto is down to +750, and honestly I didn't bet the +1600 because everyone laughed at me when I posted it here. Not that I should let people laughing at me dissuade me from betting, but I was so close to throwing like 500 on it, and then decided not to because everyone was so negative on it.

I really think Toronto is the only East team who can potentially stop them, though. I don't think Boston has enough to do it.

simpdog, our dueling bets are going to come down to trash time.

Huge 3rd for me (67 points), but now scoring is stalling in the mid-4th.

I need 16 points in 3:50 of trash time to tie, and you need fewer than 15 to win.
