I mentioned he should also be punished.
I also replied to your mention of his location in regards to the victims house.

I am not sure why that was hard to understand, did the guy who gave the address leading to the victims house know that address for what ever reason or simply guess an address.

I don't think we have enough blame to cut a piece to the guy that said something stupid online.

If everything is as seems, then the blame train is in order:

1. Police
2. Swatter
3. The guys that tipped the swatter

Police should be aware that the information they are working with isn't always correct and there's always a possibility of mistaken identity, wrong address, hoax etc.

The swatter should know the same and even if he does get the right guy things can and do go horribly wrong.

And passing the information to someone you believe will swat the guy is almost the same as doing it yourself.

If the intended swatting victim gave a false address and challenged people to swat him, then yes, he is at fault, too.

It's different than saying, "Go ahead and swat me if you can find me", and then people find the wrong address for him and swat an innocent person. This was a guy giving a specific address which wasn't his, and challenging trolls to retaliate against "him".
