This is why virtually none of the voices trashing him the loudest are democrat, and why the few democrat voices who brought up the "I" word were shuffled off the stage.

Its very clear that the dem plan is to wait for him to burst entirely into flames and take the establishment GOP with him.

Really, it's been a perfect first year for the Dems considering they don't have a single seasoned charismatic candidate that I've seen that could win any office of note if not for the anti-Trump vote. Bernie's been in the news a decent amount. He's just not part of the Dem leadership. He wasn't even a member of the party until 2 years ago. What I used to like most about him is that he wasn't a Democrat.

Biden is just cheerleading from the sidelines, like the old bro that he is. The younger Dems do need to step up and start getting national attention, but there's not much they can really do right now. If they take control of either house in 2018, I think you will see people start making real moves for 2020.

we know midterms are largely opposition votes, but i think the takeaway from this is that the dems *might* be reaaaallly motivated to come out in force in 2018. we already thought this was likely to be the case, but winning in republican strongholds (which has never been done here) is a bit of a surprise.

does this make it even harder for GOPers in swing states to work with trump on anything other than tax cuts?

Heard on a nationally prominent podcast earlier today thst many organizers of the Women's March who had been shocked by support by Hillary's loss to Trump also went into overdrive after the march on outreach to the less enthusiastic to get them on board with sopporting the Dem candidates as a means to push back against Trump. And that likely translated into unexpectedly hogh turnout for the Dems.
