    k well it's official boys, we're fucked.

verminaard: Probably gonna stay away. My heart wants the Dodgers to win, but I would probably bet Astros :/
    Me: jesus fucking christ

could be a blessing in disguise, bet other side go to the wings game and still get game 7 but i really need jv to ship it.

    edit:

verminaard: was once a big dodger fan. Not as big a fan as I was, but still want them to win.
Me: for the sake of all things good bet the dodgers
    Me: please

honestly the craziest part is that vermintard is considering fading the game altogether.

A dumb Dodger value story & the only narrative for game 6. I guess a World Series ring has a price and the Dodgers didn’t think it was worth paying. Imagine being a fan. I can’t.

If you have any soul you are rooting for Verlander’s triumph.

LOS ANGELES — It was three months ago when Justin Verlander was informed by his Detroit Tigers’ bosses that he likely would be traded, and considering he had a full no-trade clause, he didn’t hesitate to say where he wanted to go.

    Los Angeles.

He wanted to play for the Dodgers.

It would be perfect. This is where he lives in the off-season, in Beverly Hills, with his fiancée, model Kate Upton. He’d be close to Dodger Stadium. He’d be playing on a great team. He’d be performing in one of the best pitcher’s ballparks in the majors.

Maybe, if everything fell in place, he could be on the mound in Game 6 of the World Series, pitching the Dodgers to their first World Series title since 1988, resurrecting memories of Orel Hershiser.

    Well, there’s one little problem.

Verlander could be the Dodgers’ absolute worst nightmare, ending their dreams, and leaving them tormented throughout the winter, knowing how easily he could have been one of theirs.

The Tigers would have loved to trade Verlander to the Dodgers, given the Dodgers’ financial resources and pool of prospects, but there was one problem.

    The Dodgers didn’t want him.

Oh, they made a couple of cursory phone calls in July, but they didn’t want to take on the remaining $56 million of his salary, let alone cough up prized prospects.

They instead opted for Yu Darvish of the Texas Rangers at the July 31 non-waiver trade deadline, the same guy who lasted just 1⅔ innings, giving up six hits and four runs, in the Dodgers’ 5-3 defeat in Game 3.

The Dodgers had a second crack at Verlander before the Aug. 31 deadline, too, but like the 29 other teams, they didn’t bother to claim him on waivers. They sat back and watched the Tigers work out a deal with the Astros with less than 15 seconds to spare before the Aug. 31 playoff eligibility.

Now, here is Verlander, staring at them 60 feet, 6 inches away, with the chance for the ultimate revenge.

”You don’t want me? Well, you got me now? I’m your worst nightmare.’’

    Depends who the prospects were.

I didn't love how the Dodgers picked up washed-up Granderson instead of the powerful JD Martinez (who went to Arizona), and I would have preferred Verlander (who at the very least has killed the NL throughout his career) over the very inconsistent Darvish.

The money shouldn't have been an issue.

The prospects? Maybe that's a different story.

I'd have to see who the Tigers would have demanded.

They got Granderson for basically nothing.

They got Darvish for Willie Calhoun, a good-hitting but terrible-fielding second baseman, who seemed to have "DH" written all over him. So the Dodgers knew they had to ship him out at some point.

Also keep in mind that Verlander wasn't very good until he was traded to the Astros, so nobody could have foreseen his reemergence. Had that been known, the Dodgers definitely would have made the moves to get him.

Then again, if the future could have been seen, the Mariners wouldn't have shipped away failed utility player Chris Taylor for a fail pitcher named Zach Lee (who is now out of baseball).

Verlander's ERA had gone down in every start but one since July 8th, dumb dumb.

He had a 4.29 ERA and 1.44 WHIP on July 31.

And he was 34 and owed nearly 60 million.

That doesn't exactly want to make teams part with top prospects, dumb dumb.

i cant exactly read n-word but according to my scripts this reads as is:

im a n-word, the dodgers will lose, vermintard will gamble on approx. 115 games this weekend, brandon is still fist pump shoving his scottyno dupe and justin verlander will win the world series.

So, you don't answer my simple point proving you wrong, but bring up some new stuff to prove I'm being dumb?

Verlander had a bad start to the year, but should have won the Cy Young last year. And it was pretty clear by the middle of July that he was healthy and back to dominant. To say he wasn't good until the Astros trade is wrong, but it fits your narrative and I know you'll never admit you were wrong.

Okay, so he was good a little bit before the Astros trade?.

On July 31 at the trade deadline, the Dodgers did not have enough info yet to want to pull the trigger on such a trade, so they got Darvish. At the time it made sense.

You could argue that the Dodgers had enough info a month after that (when the Astros got him), but by then they had already acquired Darvish for the same purpose, so they weren't going to pull the trigger at that point.

Bottom line is that it's unfair to chastise the Dodgers for this one.

I could totally see the Dodgers getting to Verlander tonight. They've seen him and the Dodgers have a great offense. Verlander currently at 236 innings for the year.

Pitchers tire, look at how shitty Kenley Jansen has been and he's damn near unhittable.

I fully expect another 9-8 style game.

Darvish won't last 4 innings, though, if there is a game 7.
