My Official Response to Hutmasters Ridiculous Threats, Innuendos and False Claims

Just to be clear about something...

I've been trying to settle this debt and ship this money to Hut on PayPal for at least the last 6 months now, but he has refused to take 5 minutes to sign up an account there.

This entire debocle could have been avoided

This notion that I was stealing from him or 'scammed' him is fucking ridiculous

Also, I stated quite clearly in my OP that I was very appreciative and grateful for Huts help. Some of the replies here suggest that I am/was somehow ungrateful, or looking the proverbial gift horse in the mouth. Simply not accurate.

I also conceded that I was wrong to delay paying him back for so long, and have no excuse for it. I should have paid him after my first trip, but after paying back family and buying my Jeep, I was short on cash and opted to contact Hut and ask him for an extension (which he had no problem with)

We spoke as recently as 7 weeks ago approximately on the phone, and I apologized profusely, pledging to settle up as soon as I got my next ship. He was perfectly fine with that, and I had every intention to make good on that until his hostile and threatening PM's started to flood in.

Thats the confusing part for me is that after speaking on the phone a few weeks ago, everything was cool....then suddenly he spazzes out and making threats to 'out' me here literally a few days before I was going to send him a check.

As I said in the OP, I don't respond well to threats, and Hut turned into a royal dick about the situation, almost immediately after we had a recent conversation about the timeline for repayment.

Was I in the wrong for putting him off ? absolutely. I didn't dispute that, and don't fault him for being agitated. I've made it crystal clear from the start that I could have handled this differently.

Bottom line is this entire drama could have been avoided if Hut wasn't so fucking retarded that he couldn't simply sign up a PayPal account. But now suddenly I'm the bad guy and the piece of shit regardless of the fact that I made multiple attempts to pay him

Aside from all that, one thing is definitely 100% true...

Something Marty hasn't mentioned is that he was FIRED from his first ship for being drunk. He was removed from the ship by British Military on Diego Garcia. He was at risk of losing his credentials and was supposed to enter a rehab place in San CLemente but his insurance hadn't kicked in yet to cover it. I believe he said ultimately he had to take a suspension for a few months but was going to be allowed to ship out and serve it at a later date.

Let's also not forget it wasn;t like this was a loan. The real problem is Tyde took money to perform work and then ran off. That's a scam to me. Even if tyde paid back the money its pretty shitty to do to someone. Especially someone who is your friend and gave you all sorts of shit (which he never asked to be paid back for)

That shouldnt even be the point though. The burden is not on Hut. Why wouldn't someone accommodate the person they are to pay by any reasonable method possible. It's not like this happened last week or something; he had plenty of time to pay something.

If i owed someone and they said "no paypal", i would immediately ask the best way to send - "check? Money order? What is convenient for you?"

But aside from all of that, the whole situation goes much deeper than a $500 payment, and this was perfectly touched on in Sanlmar's post
