Seeing that video, I agree the officer should have been convicted of something. This wasn't so much of a "legal lynching" as Shaun King the fake black man put it, but was more a case of a jumpy and trigger happy officer flipping out.

The officer legit thought Philando was reaching for the gun he said he had.

That's not an excuse. You can't be a police officer and shoot someone just because you incorrectly perceive danger. But that's what happened.

Philando actually made a mistake as well, apparently just reaching for the gun permit or whatever, when the officer kept shouting, "Don't reach for it!"

So put me in that spot, even as a black man, and I'm keeping my hands 100% visible at all times, and then asking, "I have a permit. Would you like me to get it and show it to you?" Then if the officer said yes, I would very slowly reach for it, and immediately stop if the officer yelled at me.

And even being a non-threatening-looking middle aged white guy, I still am very careful to listen to all police orders during a traffic stop, and to keep my hands very visible and slow-moving the entire time.

But Karlos Cashe walked out of jail last week after lab results determined the powder in the handyman’s car was actually drywall.

Cashe tells WFTV he repeatedly told officers in Oviedo the substance was drywall.

Where else in the US can someone with only a high school education, average intelligence, a love of having power over others, and a few months in a post-high school training program get the opportunity to earn $150,000/year after 10 years or so on the job? Or possibly sooner.

Most states require at least a 2 year degree, and prefer that officers have a four year degree. Some states down south only require a high school degree, but officers in those states usually start at around $14 or $15 an hour, about as much as they'd earn if they worked fast food.
