Seeing that video, I agree the officer should have been convicted of something. This wasn't so much of a "legal lynching" as Shaun King the fake black man put it, but was more a case of a jumpy and trigger happy officer flipping out.
The officer legit thought Philando was reaching for the gun he said he had.
That's not an excuse. You can't be a police officer and shoot someone just because you incorrectly perceive danger. But that's what happened.
Philando actually made a mistake as well, apparently just reaching for the gun permit or whatever, when the officer kept shouting, "Don't reach for it!"
So put me in that spot, even as a black man, and I'm keeping my hands 100% visible at all times, and then asking, "I have a permit. Would you like me to get it and show it to you?" Then if the officer said yes, I would very slowly reach for it, and immediately stop if the officer yelled at me.
