while the ISIS angle may sound crazy (and it does), doesn't the theory that he was a degenerate gambler that decided to meticulously plan and shoot hundreds of people for gambling losses (i guess?) sound equally nuts?

and before that he booked two rooms in a hotel in chicago overlooking the park where lollapalooza was playing in august, so that casts serious doubt on the "i hate las vegas" or "i hate republicans" theories. no proof that he was considering going psycho then, but it's a reasonable assumption

also ISIS claimed he was radicalized 6 months ago, which happens to be the last time his brother was in contact with him

I keep thinking of that image on their little newsletter of the Mandalay Bay covered in blood. That is a strong statement IMO. Could have easily just said "yeah we did it" and let it ride, but they went the extra mile and are risking serious credibility if it comes out they are lying by doing that.

the second i realized i gave the incorrect impression that this came from breitbart, and did not accurately credit the NYTimes reporter (even though LOTF made that clear in his post), i knew i would get this response from every liberal on this site.

Actually its probably runner up to the pics of the supposed 4th floor windows broken out that were on the I15 side of the building, which was the opposite side of the building. Saw that on FB yesterday.

how exactly would he do that? a pre-made video recording setting forth his reasoning? terrorist organizations often claim responsibility for attacks (like bin laden and 9/11 for example). they don't come from the attackers themselves.

i don't necessarily believe that it was ISIS-related, but think it can't be ruled out.
