I miss the naive, wide-eyed, fish out of water Morty. Jaded Morty is okay, and character arcs are cool, but... it's not the same.

Agree.

And it all happened pretty abruptly.

The problem with Jaded Morty is that Rick is already Jaded, so there's less of an opportunity to play upon the extreme differences between the two characters.
