Derek Lewis needs to change his lifestyle. The guy throws hard but he can't be walking around near 300lbs and have the cardio to compete with the best in the heavyweight division.
Lewis is an incredibly dangerous B-level fighter in a division with literally like 2.5 solid A-level fighters.
Not that it matters because he retired tonight (according to him).

I agree with you on the HW division having just a few good fighters and then a few who we thought might be good but are cheaters.
As for Lewis retiring I'm not sold on that and he might be just taking a long break unless he has something else career wise lined up in life. He said "probably" my last fight and when I hear someone say that it usually means I'm taking a break unless someone shows me good money first.
Also he just got his aaaassssss kicked.. we saw plenty of Randy Couture retirement speeches after having his head turned inside out by Liddell, so yeah I mean, given how little the UFC actually pays these days, I doubt hes got enough to start a family or anything, so Im inclined to agree.

yeah, these guys either get offered business opportunities that most likely will fail so they will be back (For example Anthony Johnson). Or the just retire in the heat of moment and then realize they have no other options. I mean wtf is Lewis going to do ? Lewis has always said he was only in this for money and had no plans to make this his life. He used to say once he got his house money he was gone, and never had any interest in titles. Well, he already got his house, he's getting married, and he doesn't care for fighting for a living.
He may fight again if he gets a great paycheck, but this ain't a guy who has fighting in his blood or anything like that.

I feel like somehow, Glory's "modified" kickboxing rules made this scenario happen. Like by making this not-quite-kickboxing they end up with a not-quite-educated audience who doesnt quite know how to act.
