Paris accord sets a bunch of numbers we would like to reach over the following X amount of years.

If all countries don't make the number nothing happens
If only a specific 1-2-9 countries don't make the numbers nothing happens

Only part of the agreement is the USA funds $3,000,000,000 to a fund to help the rest of the world make its numbers. Obama shipped the first billion before he left office, so it's "only" 2 more.

Do I have this right? Where am i wrong about any of the above.

I'd like for someone to convince me this is a good deal for the USA. How about we do the same deal with no $2,000,000,000?

I mean if you want to get cute and make a bullshit partisan point here, I'll back off, but if we are using our adult words, I'm sure I dont even need to explain that to you.
You dismiss the Electoral College as some aberration. It brought George W Bush to power and Donald Trump. That is a pretty huge sample size given its 2 out of the last 3 elections.

The whole notion that Clinton got more votes is such a non starter, simply because California hates Trump and it was so one sided. As you know, the election was decided in 2016 by the rustbelt. If the economy is strong in 2020 (big if, we are poised for a recession after 10 years) and the left nominates a Elizabeth Warren type, it will be the same outcome as 2016. In fact, under that scenario Trump will likely add Minnesota.

Until the left understands how the Electoral College works, they will keep doubling down in states they already were going to win anyway. Or maybe they are so stupid they will spend all their time trying to flip Texas.
So instead we have a system where some people's votes count more than others. It's even more retarded than you are.

By shipping 3bn, we take significant steps to forestall environmental changes that can result in global and domestic instability with a price tag that really cant even be measured in dollars.

So China and India get to set ridiculous benchmarks that are completely meaningless and get to haul in a bunch of cash and we are ok with this? How about we keep the same deal but we get to set the standards and if they don't make them there is accountability?

I don't think shipping off a bunch of cash with potentially nothing to show for it is something most Americans are in favor in when explained in those terms. I mean I'm sure every country in this thing is going into this with the best of intentions, but I don't think pulling out and saying we should have a better deal is a bad thing here.

And lol at "the entire rest Of the world" (the population that won't be getting our free cash) being upset we are leaving. Well no shit.

    We have to start somewhere.

India btw has made tremendous progress with renewables and China is pivoting hard away from their fossil fuel addiction.

Trump walked away because he's surrounded by people telling him there is a future in oil/coal, thats all. It's bad fiction.

They are trying. But it's because the air quality is worse than LA Smog ever was and the water is dirtier than Boston Harbor. Both India and China are far more financially solvent and have more at immediate stake than the USA does but we are the ones on the hook financially.

Same argument with NATO. Sure it works but we are paying for everything.

$20,000,000,000,000 folks. Time to spread some of the liability around. Seems like the Euros have a lot to say about all of this. If they are that upset about it meet us half way. This shit really isn't that unreasonable.

Euros are unbelievably green at this point. I'm sure youve read the articles.

Bottom line; its a bit late in the game to put off dealing with this while we bicker about who pays what.

Note that I' not saying youre wrong about it being bullshit that we have to pay more or whatever but seriously, the smartest people on the planet are saying we are flirting with extinction. Those are the stakes.

He already lost the wall finding to Republicans. He should never mention the wall again, it just makes us laugh at him. He should tweet about how China invented global warming and the Paris agreement was a conspiracy by the world to wreck the US economy. And that he just boned Ivanka, finally.

Countries set their own numbers. It's symbolic. It's just an admission by governments that climate change is real.

Pulling out fits with Trump's pulling away from world leadership. Pulling out is symbolic, too.

China just announced it's partnering with the EU to combat climate change.

can we have a symbolic deal that doesn't cost us $3,000,000,000?

    The $3,000,000,000 is real.

Bro it costs 150k a day just for Melenia to park her leathery ass in NYC instead of actually being near her husband.

edit: math fail but you get where im going here.

Do you really believe we can trust China to keep their end of anything up? Come on. You know better.

As for the billions, just hold back a couple that we gave Iran. LOL. What a fucking joke.

Do you really believe that China wouldnt embrace emissions reduction if it crippled our ability to negotiate competitive trade deals?

Wait you just suggested we use a sovereign nations money to solve our economic problems, never mind. Do your thing baby.

Think all advanced nations have to pay up. Not sure the per capita numbers, but the UK are the leading contributors from the EU nations.

And yes, we really do have to start somewhere. This deal is huge and a race would begin by companies competing to offer the best and cheapest green energy.

The whole thing would snowball with the planet and its inhabitants enjoying the benefits for possibly millennia. Now we're just royally fucked because of one stupid President and his retarded followers, who choose to ignore solid science in favour of Fox News and similar unqualified commentators.

    I agree with this.

Trump has said and done some dumb things while in office, but he was actually correct when he said, "This is a bad deal for the USA."

I don't like the "Let's spend big money on what should be a shared responsibility because the other countries don't want to" method of environmental policy.

It just gives further reinforcement to countries like China that they can do whatever the fuck they want to benefit themselves, and the US will pay to clean up their mess.
