George Bush is directly responsible for the needless deaths of thousands of US troops, and just as many more in suicides post Iraq. He is partly responsible for a million odd deaths of innocent Muslims & Christians in the Middle East. And the world wouldn't be the total clusterfuck it is today if he wasn't such an evil cunt.

Yet I see him lauding it up on chat shows and shit without ever facing any sort of heat... In Europe he is by far the most hated American to have ever lived.

Having insurance companies making huge bank from healthcare is very difficult for those of us on the outside (with free healthcare) to understand.

Without even getting into the reasons why socialized medicine sucks, I'll cover it from an even simpler standpoint.

The US has a problem that other countries do not -- simply that health care has become tremendously overpriced.

Current proposals in the US for socialized care would simply shift the bill from the patients and insurance companies to the government. Costs will still be ridiculously high, but the bill will just be shifted to Uncle Sam (the taxpayers). In fact, it would get even WORSE, because utilization would be much higher (due to everything being "free").

Idiot liberals like to spout nonsense such as, "Take insurance company profits and marketing expenses out, and we will save a ton of money, and everything will be much cheaper!", but that's completely misunderstanding where the money in health care has been going. Insurance company profits and marketing overhead are a drop in the bucket compared to overall health care costs in the US.

The problem here is that the costs are outrageously high, and no one is proposing anything effective to do anything about it. Instead, we have endless debates as to who pays for it. That's where our core mistake is.

Once we get costs, fraud, and waste under control, then we can talk about who pays for it.

One recent study comparing administrative costs in the two countries found that these costs in the U.S. are roughly double what they are in Canada

The main difference is that patented drug prices in Canada average between 35% and 45% lower than in the United States, though generic prices are higher. The price differential for brand-name drugs between the two countries has led Americans to purchase upward of $1 billion US in drugs per year from Canadian pharmacies.



In the U.S., the federal government does not guarantee universal healthcare to all its citizens, but publicly funded healthcare programs help to provide for the elderly, disabled, the poor, and children

This... at best %70-75 covered by government unless you add on some private insurance, Canadian medical covers something like %72 and extended option 80 with private room benefits.

I have never been more proud than when the President issued his Executive Order on religious freedoms this week. Getting God back into the fabric of this country is an amazing thing.

The President is why I am so excited for the future. In the next 7+ years he will be able to appoint maybe 4 new Supreme Court Justices tilting the Court until say 2057. Think about that, 2057! Most in this thread will have long since died, but our children and grandchildren will feel the effects of the Trump Court.

I hope Trump digs in and jettisons the Paris Accord on Climate change which is a huge fucking scam. I hope the President celebrates the withdrawal by ordering the EPA to approve all coal plant applications.
