The U.S. is prepared to launch a preemptive strike with conventional weapons against North Korea should officials become convinced that North Korea is about to follow through with a nuclear weapons test, multiple senior U.S. intelligence officials told NBC News.

North Korea has warned that a "big event" is near, and U.S. officials say signs point to a nuclear test that could come as early as this weekend.

The intelligence officials told NBC News that the U.S. has positioned two destroyers capable of shooting Tomahawk cruise missiles in the region, one just 300 miles from the North Korean nuclear test site.

American heavy bombers are also positioned in Guam to attack North Korea should it be necessary, and earlier this week, the Pentagon announced that the USS Carl Vinson aircraft carrier strike group was being diverted to the area.

On Wednesday, North Korea said it would "hit the U.S. first" with a nuclear weapon should there be any signs of U.S. strikes.

On Thursday, North Korea warned of a "merciless retaliatory strike" should the U.S. take any action.

I don't think your reports line up with what my understanding is. He spent many years in Switzerland growing up with his mom and went to college in Zurich. If anything he is know for being completely indifferent and is happy to have the party take the lead on running the day to day. He's not a complete dummy and understands if/when they were to attack China/So Korea/USA/Japan it would be game over as does the rest of the party.

That's not to say this couldn't result in No Korea running a test to be defiant.

Like a month ago Tillerson said China should abandon those Islands they made in the South China Sea. It seemed we were on a collision course for a potential nuclear war, we're enemies but they build every gadget in the US. Now Trump and the leader of China are chilling at Maralogo.

I do not recall ever hearing Iraq had a world leading military, sorry but no reason to have ever thought that. If anything it was a pretty unfair fight and any other decent military power could have done it but why spend the money if they don't have to.

As far as the US fending off an actual full out assault (void of Nukes) from both the Russians and Chinese at the same time, never, game over USA.

Using Nukes changes things but after all isn't that what keeps the big powers from going to war with each other. All you see now is the bullying and destruction of smaller countries/regions that do not have the ability to fight back.
