1950 miles of US/Mexican border...Trump wants to put up a wall on 1000 miles of it, the rest of the border will get by with the natural barriers. currently there is 700 miles of fence on the border, mostly in California, Arizona & New Mexico...it is estimated that the wall will cost about 6.5 million per mile...$6,500,000,000 all told (the fence is far cheaper per mile)

the Congress will authorize financing that will ultimately be recovered by higher visa fees for Mexican entering the US and from seizing bank transfers from the US to Mexico made by illegal aliens...that is part of Trumps plan to have Mexico pay

lots of folks say that walls don't work...but defenders point to the western wall in Israel to protect Jerusalem as being an example of an effective one

note that although it costs 6.5m per mile to build, no one has broached the topic of what it will cost to maintain it, or that anyone with a fucking ladder can get over it unless every inch of it is staffed.

so ok cool we should get that wall paid off in about 1,857 years.

Of course the problem with that is average illegal immigrant costs taxpayers 8-10,000 annually depending on the study. We spend roughly 80-115 Billion annually providing programs to illegal immigrants.

I think you've been watching too many war movies or something (The Seige??). Plenty of other things the president can implement before ML. Chicago is the hub for drugs and gang activity coming in from Mexico, and is affecting many other areas in the midwest because of it. shit isn't getting any better. The Federal government creates programs, city, county and state governments apply to those programs, and are then granted assistance. Compare Times Square of the 1980s to now. It's a staggering difference.

It was a follow up to "Hoop Dreams" the documenty that followed two kids from the high school Isiah Thomas went to. Took 8 years to film. (Think "Boyhood" except it was interesting).

Loved the movie.
