If anyone knows 3-1 isn't insurmountable, it's Cleveland fans. You are running three studs in a row at us. It isn't some insane idea that you come back. Honestly, if we weren't against the other hard luck club I'd half expect to blow it. I'm certainly not posting in that celebration thread until win 4 is in the books. I'm thrilled with the series obviously to this point.
I was really kind of confident that we might take it down until the pitching injuries started down the homestretch of the regular season. We were an exceptional under the radar pitching team all year. Even with late season injuries we ended up second in ERA and first in many metrics. After losing Carrasco and Salazar I thought it was an extreme longshot. The only thing I really liked is that we have a number of what I'd call 60 heartbeat dudes with the right mental makeup. Lindor just has fun, Miller, Kluber, and Tomlin are just good old boys, and nothing bothers Jose Ramirez. He might be a sociopath. All year with two strikes and RISP kid just came through like he's been doing it forever. It's pretty rare to have two guys as young as Lindor and Ramirez be as calm as they are. They were our two best clutch hitters all year. Add in Tito and you have something with guys like that.
Either way, both teams are well-poised for the future as the Indians have everyone locked down for multiple years save Napoli, and the Cubs can certainly afford to keep their talent. I feel for the Cubs fans. I think I like every Cubs fan on the forum, and I generally like their fans. The media was a little insufferable acting as if it was some foregone conclusion, but that's not Cubs fans fault. They're simply a well-loved big market underdog story. Against anyone else, everyone is cheering for us.
It's been a hell of a run. Hope BD can lay off a hedge of some sort and turn a profit:
