He didn't need either one.
He could have won the election by pulling down CO, IA, NV, OH, FL, and NC -- all states where he was tied or leading, prior to debate #1 on 9/26.
Then the wheels fell off.
But he had a very realistic path to victory before that.
It is looking like he will carry IA and lose the other 5 (CO, NV, OH, FL, NC).
He will probably barely hold onto AZ and GA. He won't come close in VA, PA, MI, WI, or any of those other states that the Dems have repeatedly carried in the 2000s/2010s.
It's over, guys. Trump had a shot 3 weeks ago, but now it's legit over.
go to one of those electoral map sites like 270towin.com and try to figure out a trump victory that doesn't include both virginia and colorado.

That's more reasonable. Though, he could do it by winning New Hampshire. You'd be right to point out that he looks terrible in New Hampshire recently, but he's more likely to win New Hampshire than he is Virginia and maybe even Colorado.your map doesn't show up when i try to quote it...

The problem with this theory is that Trump actually underperformed his poll numbers in the primaries. More people told pollsters they would vote for Trump in the primaries than actually voted for him.
