My point was that WordPress is a terrible platform, and the kind of work done to build sites with WordPress I wouldn't consider to be "web development". I don't blame you for hating it.

    That's literally not true

But there is a big difference between custom from scratch theme development and prebuilt themes and plugins.

It literally is true. WordPress is a good blogging platform that was morphed into a Frankenstein monster to do all sorts of things it was never designed to do. It is popular because anyone who is reasonably good with computers can throw up a WordPress site.

However, they are a horrible mishmash of plugins that were never designed to work together, spewing out reams of Javascript and CSS that render-blocks. And then you install another plugin to mask WP's poor performance. And then you install another plugin to attempt to merge those masses of CSS and JS together.

Inevitably, you end up with a teetering mess that performs poorly, doesn't scale well, and is a nightmare to maintain. For low budgets or low expectations, WordPress is fine. There are any number of other much better choices, which incidentally are what the higher paying jobs also require.

WordPress really is the Chicken McNugget of the web world.

every keystroke here is true as god sees it.

Again then you are doing it wrong.

If you are using any plugin that provides front end functionality you don't know how to build Wordpress.

I have built stuff in Wordpress, Drupal, Laravel, Code Ignitor, Yii

Wordpress built correctly is extremely efficient.

Also it's infinitely more user friendly for customers to update and maintain than any other CMS.

Laravel and Yii2 are good frameworks for webapp development; great respect to both for what they are, but are obviously not CMSs. Drupal is a bureaucratic behemoth that also injects itself into the front-end more than it should, and accomplishing simple things is laborious.

I stand by my comments re: WordPress. I despise working with it or on it, and it's not due to lack of experience. It's due to experience. Yes, you can write a custom theme for WP, and I think the people working on WordPress core are smart people. The problem is that the platform is, at it's heart, a blogging platform. Everything is posts or pages, and the kludges to take it beyond that are just that: kludges. It's really pointless, when there are so many better alternatives out there.

I'd suggest checking out Craft CMS for db-driven webwork that requires an easy to use backend for content editors, or Grav, Bolt, or any number of other more modern flat-file CMSs for simpler projects.

Not trying to draw any conclusions, but khalwat and Ken Bone have never been seen in the same room together at the same time.

I honestly have no idea about the subject matter being discussed here, but I do know abrown will be voting for Gary Johnson come November, so I'd imagine the random has more clearheaded thinking.

Marty when is the last time you have gotten laid without paying for it?

I can't bring myself to vote for that buffoon. He's so goofy. I wish Wayne Allen Root was running on the Libertarian ticket.

I am seriously considering voting Ken Scalir

Also Tyde, you understand better than anyone that your extremely aggressive and loose style is very swingy. You should consider saving 200 buyins at maybe $20 avg plus year of living expenses before you head back to Mexico to grind.

After making a few calls this morning, let me say that Martin's description of the vetting process by DHS is grossly exaggerated.
I've not mentioned him by name nor do I plan to affect him in any way. I personally didnt believe Tyde has been an unemployed shitbag alcoholic druggie loser for years and years and does 3 months of qualifications and then passed even our lowest form of approvals. And I can confidently say he didn't.

hmmm that's odd, considering that today is Columbus Day and all government offices are closed
