When you take in who this guy is, rather than being a defense against Putin being pro-Trump, it's actually further evidence that Putin desperately wants Trump. Why does Putin want Trump so badly? If Russia and China are killing us, and laughing at us, and just getting rich off Democratic presidents like Trump constantly repeats contrary to all evidence, and Trump is going to put an end to that, why do they want him to win so badly?

If Putin endorsed Obama, I assume it's because Romney called Russia the world's biggest threat in the debates. A point that Obama and most liberals laughed off, myself included, but in retrospect was fairly accurate. I'm sure Putin wanted no part of Romney, as he's a much more traditional national defense Republican that are always hawkish on Russia. Iirc, I think I made a comment here about Romney still thinking it was 1985. Clearly I was laughably wrong, and Romney was somewhat prescient on that subject. The falling price of oil cornered Putin and made him much more aggressive.
