Mumbles.....what does my previous comment say? "1. The cops did something shady in order to get an arrest. Punish them severely."
I essentially stated that they violated the guy's rights and should be punished. How does this statement, where I stated that the guys rights were violated, show that I dont know anything about violating rights?
also, I probably have more blacks living in my building than you in your entire town. NW burbs of Chicago
I didn't say "black". I said people who usually can't afford to fight the system. The *poor* folks, be they black, white, green, etc. It just happens to be the case that in big cities, there are usially more poor *black* folk than white folks.
Your comment was a sarcastic one about the WHITES in my town. My town is mixed. I have about every possible race imaginable in this town of around 75K. My corner of this town, in particular has crime from all races. (I didnt know when I moved here that we have sec 8 all around. I just saw the unit and view, and heated parking and said Hell yeah I'll take that).
You can argue that POOR folks cant afford legal assitance (they can have free assistance whenever they want) and I will argue that the police dont focus their efforts on areas of color....they focus their efforts on areas of CRIME. If the crime stats show lots of crime, and they are being done by, say, blacks, its NOT racist to arrest a shit load more blacks than whites. Its the fact that that area happens to have lots of blacks committing crimes.
The cops happened to do something shitty and should be punished. BUT, its also interesting that the guy they did that to wasnt innocent by any means. He was a criminal doing illegal things, and now, little will happen to him. Those cops really fucked up. I hope this hits the CPD hard. It will dissuade anyone else thinking about being shady to stop.
What exactly do you think Im not understanding? The cops violated his rights and should be punished.
