Let me guess, RDA will be rehabbing his foot in remote Brazil. smh

    This is great news!
Dos Anjos may be best LW but it doesn't mean I want to watch him fight.
Anyone who routinely does the ol two leg takedown and then submission or GnP can eat a fuckin dick.

    Is this even possible

Edit: DJ Chaps you do realize RDA's using this as an excuse to go to Brazil and get in a cycle? This is right up there with the "Serena stepped on glass story" from 2010. USADA better not be scared of the Zika virus.

Right now? I'd say no. They can't even do the 145 title now because Edgar is hurt and Aldo is out of shape and just declined a rematch with Conor today.

    A) For Dana to even think about doing that even for the fight after this, McGregor would not only have to win, but do so in spectacular fashion. There are way too many good fights for Conor at 155 the UFC would prefer to do at this time (Diaz, Cerrone, Pettis, even Alvarez) or even an interim title fight if RDA is out for any significant amount of time.

    B) I think both Robbie's camp and the UFC's best move for Robbie's career at this time would be to give him a solid 6-9 mth layoff. There are 4 guys in the 170 division who are kinda in the same place right now as to who is the next challenger so there's work to figure out who Robbie's next opponent would be, and can give the UFC some Fight Night mains or co-main fights to work with (i.e. Thompson vs Maia or Woodley vs Thompson). This works out for Robbie as he has time to recover from the wars he's been in *and* the UFC can get in 2 Conor PPVs before even considering him at 170.

I'd say if Conor does KO his opponent in this fight (will it be for the interim title?), and then beats RDA say in July or August and becomes the true 155 champ, then you can seriously start discussing slating Conor vs Robbie for the 170 title in the big late December card (and the world explodes).

Id take Conor over Cerrone every chance I could. Cerrone ALWAYS takes damage in the first round, its like a ritual for him, and I think it was his undoing against RDA and I think it would be his undoing against Conor.

And since Conor would open a 3-1 favorite against Cerrone I have no financial interest in the bout either.

Pettis v Conor is the fight that makes sense here from a MMA relevance perspective but on such short notice, fuck that. The only scenario that wouldnt be instantly questioned would be Pettis dominating from post to post.

And Im sorry but outside of Pettis and RDA (excluding Cerrone, barely), no one in the division is going to be better than a legit 5-1 dog facing Conor right now if the bout takes place at 196.

Scrap the whole fucking event frankly or take it to FOX1 or something.

Or give us Nate v Conor because HOLY SHIT JUST DO IT.

Ricky - a broken foot cant be fought with. At best RDA would be hard pressed to lose by decision.

yeah this sucks about dos Anjos.

As for Cerrone the only hope any bettor has is if enough people hate Connor and love Cerrone enough to put money on Cowboy but we'd be lucky to get McGreggor at better then -300 imo which is a spot I don't like either. As much as I think something is a lock I hate taking big favorites and I think Connor could be -450 or so even stepping up in weight because he's been training.

Cowboy has been vulnerable his entire career to quality / well hyped opponents.

Dana turned him down to fill in for RDA, a man he has beaten.

To be sure, I think he is the perfect solution to Conor and would be a logical favorite.

That said, honestly the more I think about it...: Does it even make sense for Conor to fight anyone at 155 who doesnt carry a strap?

Wouldn't it be for interim title since RDA isn't defending?

Not necessarily; I think it depends how long RDA is in on the bench. To my knowledge there isnt a written in stone rule.

it would be the most worthless of interim belts if they fought for one. I mean, RDA just defended 2 months ago. Plus, if it ends up as vs Cerrone for interim and Cerrone wins, now you gotta run back Cerrone-RDA. I'd prefer not to get a second helping of that pair.
