Yeah, Hockey Guy, and I'm the first person ever in history to make such a statement too.

CM Punk not gonna fight in UFC for a long time, and I'd say their is a chance he never will. He is having back surgery today.

Rafael dos Anjos to McGreggor:
If he tries to come back from that surgery (which I have had twice....once in 2008, again in 2011) he will only make things worse. Once you cut up or try to repair a herniated disc, the disc begins to deteriorate. Everything above that disc now starts to droop down, as you dont have that tall of a "spacer" in your spine. My spine is now mangled and twisting all over because my entire disc is almost gone, and everything above it said "Fuck you...gonna do what we want" and decided to twerk its ass off over to the left of where it should be.
dude (like Tiger Woods) should be lucky he can still move and quit MMA for good. He will not come back from this, and will be a shell of his former self. Much like Cain is about to realize. Once they both fuck things up worse, they can have the vertebrae fused together, with some metal or something. It will limit their full mobility, but my friend had two discs go bad, and thanks to a metal cage in his spine, he can swing a golf club again. 9 months of rehab to get to that point.
A very famous DJ got into MMA at around that age.
Fucked up his back and basically died from it.
Shit is not to be toyed with.

DraftKings buys Kountermove.

I know mmajunkie isn't exactly run by Edward R Murrow but that is just horrible irresponsible journalism.A scandal over an employee’s $350,000 payday prompted a federal investigation that ultimately cleared the company of wrongdoing, but cost the company an advertising partnership with ESPN.
Kevin Randleman is DD. Wonder if the heart failure was brought on by past steroid use.

There’s unfortunate news in the MMA world tonight, as we’ve learned that Kevin Randleman has passed away at age 44. Randleman had gone to the hospital with pneumonia and had heart failure. His passing was confirmed by his a family members on Facebook just a short time ago.
Randleman won the UFC world heavyweight title at UFC 23 in 1999. He was a staple of the sport for many years, having also fought for PRIDE, Sengoku and Strikeforce.
His car accident didnt help matters but yeah, steroid abuse absolutely 100% weakens the heart and a host of other things.

I think medicine will get to the point where it allows us to have "free rides" on a alot of things which are currently bad for our bodies. You see a little bit of it now with statins and other drugs and procedures that lower cholesterol, unclog arteries etc. But for now, as general the rule , the more extreme you go in a direction the more nature tends to makes you pay. The UFC is somewhat in its infancy and certainly there have never been as many high caliber fighters as there is today. I think the majority of these guys are going to be completely fucked in 20 years. Probably even more so than football players. People forget that their televised fights are just a fraction of the abuse their bodies take. Most of these guys spare and train their asses up between fights which is why there are so many injuries and cancelled fights.

Completely agree. Its not like steroids are implicitly bad or even hurtful. But when you take them in the context of sports, especially MMA, the middle ground usually wont get you big money so you push it and push it around people training you who probably have no idea what they are doing (GG Valasquez).

Saw a recent study was done about mice and brain injuries. Mice on steroids suffered markedly worse effects to some brain parts from similar injuries compared to the mice not on roids. Haven't read the actual study, but fact is we have no surety as to what any one of these variables does to the other, other than that they help sometimes and hurt badly sometimes.
The idea that the juice could make head injuries more severe than they would have been is pretty fucking scary. I'd bet the inside of Randleman's head contains some really ugly stuff. Heart just went first this time.
Gary Goodridge is now on the clock.

I was so excited to hear that Sergei Kharitonov was about to join UFC. He is an exciting fighter and ever more than that an amazing person. It was going to be the first UFC athlete that I'd ever had sessions with. Unfortunately there is a ton of nasty back door politics involved. Dana White is a snake! Here's to Serg dominating Bellator.
